Job Description: Server Administrator

Location: Ahmedabad (Remote but will be on-site soon)

About the Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Server Administrator to manage the health, security, and reliability of our Windows Server environment, IIS-hosted applications, SQL Server databases, and backup infrastructure. The ideal candidate will combine strong routine server administration skills with hands-on experience in monitoring, troubleshooting, and maintaining production systems, while also contributing to broader security and compliance initiatives such as SOC 2 readiness.

Key Responsibilities

Server Health Monitoring & Maintenance

- Monitor CPU, memory, and disk space utilization across servers; proactively identify and resolve resource bottlenecks
- Perform disk cleanup and removal of unnecessary files to maintain optimal storage availability
- Review Windows Event Logs to identify errors, warnings, and security-relevant events
- Monitor and troubleshoot Windows Services to ensure continuous availability of critical applications
- Track server availability and uptime; respond promptly to outages or degraded performance
- Perform server restarts/reboots as part of maintenance or incident resolution
- Apply Windows Updates and security patches on a regular, scheduled basis
- Manage SSL certificate renewal, installation, and configuration across servers and applications
- Administer and monitor IIS, including Application Pool management (recycling, configuration, troubleshooting)

Application & Server Log Review

- Monitor Scheduled Tasks and troubleshoot failures
- Monitor and troubleshoot Syncovery jobs
- Monitor backup jobs, including transfers between servers/locations, and verify backup integrity
- Manage backup retention and cleanup policies, including S3 backup management and deletion of expired backups per retention policy
- Monitor SQL Server services and review SQL Server error logs
- Monitor Match jobs and SQL Server backup jobs
- Monitor database disk space and perform Query Store analysis
- Perform routine database maintenance, including index fragmentation monitoring and remediation




- Troubleshoot server, application, and network connectivity issues
- Lead or support production incident troubleshooting and resolution
- Deploy applications and web services to Sandbox and Production environments
- Back up application release files to S3 for disaster recovery purposes

User & Server Access / Permission Management

- Install and configure server software and components as required
- Maintain and update server configurations to align with operational and security standards
- Provision and configure current servers as needed

Virtualization, Storage & Network Security Infrastructure

- Manage and monitor the VMware vCenter 7 environment, including virtual machine provisioning, resource allocation, snapshots, and host/cluster health
- Monitor and maintain the HP SAN storage environment, including capacity monitoring, health checks, and troubleshooting storage-related issues
- Manage and monitor two FortiGate 40F firewalls, including rule/policy management, VPN configuration (e.g., FortiClient), firmware updates, and security log review
- Troubleshoot connectivity and performance issues spanning the virtualization, storage, and network layers

Security & Compliance

- Apply security patches and perform regular security-related checks across the server environment
- Monitor and respond to infrastructure alerts promptly
- Support disaster recovery efforts, including backup restoration when required
- Contribute to and support efforts toward achieving SOC 2 certification, including documentation of controls, policies, and evidence gathering

Required Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience)
- 3+ years of hands-on experience administering Windows Server environments




- Strong working knowledge of IIS administration (Application Pools, sites, bindings, SSL configuration)
- Experience with SQL Server administration, including backups, error log review, and basic performance tuning (Query Store, index maintenance)
- Familiarity with backup tools and strategies, including cloud-based backup (AWS S3 preferred)
- Experience monitoring and troubleshooting Windows Services, Scheduled Tasks, and server logs
- Understanding of Windows Update management and patch deployment practices
- Working knowledge of SSL/TLS certificate lifecycle management
- Strong troubleshooting skills for server, application, and network-level issues
- Hands-on experience managing VMware vCenter (v6.x/7.x), including VM provisioning, resource management, and cluster/host monitoring
- Experience managing and monitoring SAN storage (HP SAN or equivalent), including capacity planning and troubleshooting
- Experience configuring and managing firewalls (FortiGate preferred), including policy management, VPN setup, and firmware/patch updates
- Ability to work independently and respond to production incidents with urgency

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with Syncovery or similar backup/sync tools
- Exposure to compliance frameworks such as SOC 2, ISO 27001, or similar
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and execution
- Familiarity with monitoring/alerting tools (e.g., PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix, or similar)
- Basic scripting skills (PowerShell) for automation of routine tasks
- Prior experience supporting client-facing production web applications
- VMware VCP certification or equivalent hands-on vSphere/vCenter experience
- Fortinet NSE certification or equivalent hands-on FortiGate experience
