KEY RESPONSIBILITIESTrade settlement and post-trade operationsOwn the end-to-end settlement cycle for institutional equity and F&O; trades across all client segmentsManage daily coordination with local custodians on allocations, confirmations, funding and settlement instructionsEnsure timely dissemination of trade confirmations and electronic contract notes through the Straight Through Processingenvironment, working with STP providers including NSDL, NSE.IT and Omgeo / DTCC CTMOversee trade matching, affirmation and exception management; drive down fail rates, unmatched trades and lateconfirmationsManage obligations to exchanges and clearing corporations – pay-in and pay-out, margin reporting, early pay-inOversee corporate action processing and entitlement handling for institutional client positionsMid-office and dealing desk supportLead the mid-office function supporting the dealing desk, sales traders and dealers on trade queries, allocations, brokeragecomputation and position reconciliationAct as the escalation point for time-sensitive intraday issues where delay creates settlement or client riskOwn daily reconciliation of positions, obligations, brokerage and client balancesEnsure accurate brokerage billing and revenue recognition, including soft-dollar and CSA arrangements where applicableInstitutional client onboarding and KYCOwn account opening across FPI / FII, FDI, DII, AIF, mutual fund, insurance and corporate treasury segmentsManage KYC, re-KYC and periodic review requirements, including documentation from global entities across multiplejurisdictionsCoordinate with compliance, legal and custodians on account structures, PAN and demat linkages, CP codes, UCC registrationand exchange uploadsKeep onboarding turnaround competitive – slow onboarding costs the desk business directlyRegulatory, compliance and controlsMaintain command of SEBI regulations, FPI regulations,



exchange and depository circulars, PMLA and KYC normsMaintain working awareness of the cross-border regulations global clients operate under, including sanctions screening andhome-jurisdiction reporting expectationsBuild and maintain a robust process and control workplace, ensuring all key controls are completed in line with policy and ontimeOwn the operations response to internal audit, statutory audit, exchange inspections and SEBI examinations, and closefindings within timelinesClient and counterparty engagementServe as the senior operations point of contact for global institutional clients, their custodians and their operations teamsHandle escalations on trade confirmations, settlement discrepancies and query resolutionParticipate in client due diligence visits and operational reviews, where global institutions assess post-trade infrastructurebefore allocating flowProcess improvement, technology and team leadershipDrive business process reengineering across the institutional operations stack, replacing manual touchpoints with automationand straight-through flowsPartner with technology to deliver low-latency operational infrastructure and reduce turnaround times on confirmations,allocations and reportingBuild, lead, mentor and retain the mid-office and back-office team; own capacity planning, cross-training and successionDesign and maintain business continuity arrangements for the settlement cycleCANDIDATE PROFILEExperience: 12 to 18 years in institutional operations, settlements or post-trade functions,



including at least 4 years leading ateam.Background – any of the followingInstitutional equities operations at a domestic or foreign broking housePost-trade, settlements or middle-office leadership at a custodian bankInstitutional operations at a full-service broker with an FPI-heavy client basePrime brokerage or clearing operations with Indian market exposureMust haveDeep, hands-on command of the Indian institutional settlement cycle across cash equities and F&ODemonstrated; ownership of custodian relationships and custodian-settled institutional tradesWorking experience of the STP environment – NSDL, NSE.IT, Omgeo / DTCC CTM or equivalent matching platformsPractical experience of FPI, FDI and DII account opening and the institutional KYC frameworkCommand of SEBI, exchange and depository regulations relevant to institutional brokingStrong written and verbal English, with the confidence to face off directly against global counterparts. This is not a back-office-only role.A process improvement or automation track record you can put numbers toTeam leadership experience with real accountability for output and peopleGood to haveFixed income, currency derivatives or commodity settlementexposure alongside equitiesA system migration, OMS implementation or majorautomation project on your recordFit markersCalm under a hard daily deadline. The settlement cycle doesnot move for anyone.Detail-obsessed without losing the bigger process pictureFamiliarity with settlement cycle transitions and theiroperational implicationsRelevant NISM certificationsMBA Finance, CA or equivalent postgraduate qualificationComfortable being the escalation point rather thanescalating upwardUnderstands that operations quality is a commercial asset,not just a control functionStable career record – this is a relationship-heavy function
