Position: Furniture DesignerExperience: 3–6 yearsLocation: MumbaiIndustry: Interior Design / Furniture / Hospitality / Residential ProjectsEmployment: Full-timeAbout the RoleWe are looking for a Furniture Designer with robust technical drawing capabilities and hands-on experience in designing modular as well as bespoke furniture.This is not purely a conceptual design role. The person should be able to take a furniture idea from design intent → detailed technical drawings → material specification → vendor coordination → production → final execution.Experience working on premium residential and hospitality projects is strongly preferred.Key ResponsibilitiesDesign custom and bespoke furniture including sofas, beds, wardrobes, consoles, dining tables, side tables, storage units, vanities, bars and other interior furniture.Develop detailed production-ready technical drawings with accurate dimensions, sections, elevations, joinery and construction details.Design and detail modular furniture systems, particularly wardrobes, kitchens, storage and cabinetry.Translate design concepts/reference images into technically executable furniture designs.Understand and specify materials including: Solid wood and veneers Plywood/MDF Laminates Metal Stone Glass Upholstery and fabrics Hardware and fittingsPrepare material specifications, finishes and hardware schedules.Coordinate directly with carpenters, furniture manufacturers, workshops and vendors.Resolve technical and production issues during prototyping/manufacturing.Review shop drawings and ensure that the finished product matches the approved design.Coordinate with interior designers, stylists, architects,
project managers and site teams.Conduct site measurements where required and incorporate site conditions into drawings.Maintain drawing revisions and proper documentation across projects.Technical Skills RequiredMust have:AutoCAD – advanced proficiencyStrong furniture technical detailingExcellent understanding of furniture construction and joineryModular furniture detailingBespoke furniture developmentAbility to produce vendor/manufacturing-ready drawingsStrong understanding of dimensions, ergonomics and proportionsMaterial and hardware knowledgePreferred:SketchUpPhotoshop / IllustratorEnscape / V-Ray or similar visualization softwareExperience developing furniture for luxury/premium interiorsWho We’re Looking ForSomeone who is equally comfortable designing a beautiful piece of furniture and figuring out exactly how it will be made.The ideal candidate has worked closely with workshops and manufacturers—not just created drawings from a desk. They should understand what happens when a drawing reaches the factory floor and be able to anticipate construction, material and execution challenges.QualificationsBachelor’s/Diploma in Furniture Design, Interior Design, Product Design, Architecture or related discipline3–6 years of relevant professional experiencePortfolio demonstrating technical furniture drawings and executed furniture piecesPrior experience with hospitality and/or premium residential projects preferredExperience working with furniture vendors/manufacturers is importantWhat we will evaluate during hiringCandidates should be prepared to show both design portfolio + technical drawing samples. We would specifically evaluate their ability to take one bespoke furniture reference/concept and develop a complete production-ready drawing set.Important: This role is best suited to someone who enjoys the intersection of design, detailing, materials, and making, not someone looking for a purely conceptual interior-design position.
