Civil Site Engineer

Job Summary The Civil Site Engineer is responsible for planning, supervising, coordinating, and executing day-to-day construction activities while ensuring compliance with approved drawings, project specifications, quality standards, safety regulations, and project timelines. The role requires close coordination with the Design, Procurement, QA/QC, Finance, and Project Management teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Roles & Responsibilities
Pre-Construction Activities
1. Verify site conditions, site boundaries, benchmarks, and survey references before commencing any construction activity.
2. Ensure proper site marking, layout, centerline marking, and setting-out as per approved drawings.
3. Verify survey levels using Auto Level, Total Station, or other surveying equipment.
4. Study and understand all approved Architectural, Structural, Plumbing, Electrical, and MEP drawings before execution.
5. Review BOQ, specifications, and construction methodology before commencing work.
Site Execution
1. Supervise day-to-day construction activities as per approved drawings and specifications.
2. Ensure work is executed according to project schedule and construction sequence.
3. Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and internal departments for smooth execution.
4. Monitor excavation, footing, RCC, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, finishing, and all associated civil works.
5. Ensure proper alignment, levels, dimensions, and workmanship during execution.
6.
Identify technical issues at site and provide practical engineering solutions.
7. Monitor productivity and ensure timely completion of assigned activities.
Quality Control
1. Ensure all construction activities comply with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable IS Codes.
2. Inspect reinforcement, shuttering, embedded items, and dimensions before concrete pouring.
3. Verify concrete grade, slump, cube testing, curing, and workmanship.
4. Conduct quality inspections and prepare inspection checklists.
5. Raise quality concerns immediately and ensure corrective actions are implemented.
Material Management
1. Verify incoming construction materials for quantity and quality.
2. Ensure materials are stored properly according to company standards.
3. Maintain Material Ledger, Material Consumption Register, and Material Reconciliation Reports.
4. Coordinate with Procurement for timely material requirements.
5. Minimize material wastage through effective planning and monitoring.
Documentation & Reporting
1. Prepare Daily Progress Reports (DPR).
2. Maintain Site Diary and Daily Activity Register.
3. Record labour attendance and productivity.
4. Maintain Measurement Book (MB), Inspection Requests, and Site Registers.
5. Verify quantities executed for contractor billing.
6. Maintain proper documentation of drawings, revisions, approvals, and site instructions.
Coordination
1. Act as the technical representative between contractors,
consultants, clients, and internal teams.
2. Coordinate with Design Team regarding drawing clarifications.
3. Coordinate with Procurement Team for material availability.
4. Coordinate with QA/QC Team for inspections and approvals.
5. Attend project review meetings and submit progress updates.
Safety
1. Ensure all personnel comply with PPE requirements.
2. Conduct regular toolbox talks and safety briefings.
3. Ensure good housekeeping practices at site.
4. Report unsafe conditions immediately.
5. Comply with all company Health, Safety & Environment (HSE) policies.
Project Control
1. Monitor project progress against approved schedules.
2. Identify delays and proactively recommend corrective actions.
3. Support planning engineers in updating project schedules.
4. Ensure effective utilization of labour, materials, and equipment.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Civil Engineering.
- Freshers with strong technical knowledge or candidates with 1–5 years of construction experience may apply.
Technical Skills
- Ability to read Architectural, Structural, and MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of RCC, masonry, finishing, and construction practices.
- Quantity estimation and BOQ understanding.
- Basic QA/QC procedures.
- Understanding of IS Codes and construction standards.
