Role & responsibilities

1. Boiler Operation

- Operate wood-fired boiler safely and efficiently as per approved SOPs.

- Start, operate, and shut down the boiler according to operating procedures.

- Monitor steam pressure, temperature, water level, fuel consumption, and other operating parameters.

- Maintain required steam pressure for production and utility requirements.

- Monitor boiler feed-water system, pumps, valves, gauges, and safety devices.

- Fuel &
- Furnace Management

- Feed wood/biomass fuel into the furnace at the required rate.

- Maintain proper combustion and furnace temperature.

- Ensure proper storage and handling of wood/biomass fuel.

- Monitor fuel consumption and minimize wastage.

- Remove and safely dispose of ash generated from the boiler. Water &

- Steam System

- Monitor boiler feed-water quality and level.

- Carry out blowdown as per approved operating procedures.

- Check water-treatment systems such as softener/DM water system, where applicable.

- Monitor steam traps, pipelines, pressure gauges, and related equipment.

- Report abnormal pressure, temperature, leakage, vibration, or noise immediately.

- Safety &

- Compliance

- Follow all boiler safety procedures and permit-to-work requirements.

- Ensure boiler safety valves, alarms, interlocks, and emergency systems are functional.

- Pharma GMP Requirements

- Follow plant SOPs, GMP requirements, and engineering/utilities procedures.





- Maintain proper documentation and equipment logbooks.

- Record boiler operating parameters accurately and contemporaneously.

- Ensure utility operations do not adversely affect pharmaceutical manufacturing operations.

- Support audits and inspections by providing required utility records.

- Preventive Maintenance Support

- Carry out routine inspection of boiler equipment.

- Coordinate with the maintenance team for breakdowns and preventive maintenance.

- Assist in cleaning, inspection, and minor maintenance activities as authorized.

- Identify early signs of equipment deterioration and report them to the supervisor.

- Documentation &

- Reporting

- Maintain daily boiler operation log sheets.

- Record fuel consumption, steam generation, water consumption, blowdown, and operating hours.

- Maintain shift handover records.

- Report breakdowns and deviations to the Engineering/Utilities department.

- Maintain records required for statutory inspections and internal audits.
