Safety and Testing Engineer

We are seeking a Safety &

- Testing Engineer with hands-on experience in HT/LT electrical testing, commissioning, inspection, troubleshooting, and electrical safety. The candidate will be responsible for ensuring protected, reliable, and quality-compliant testing and commissioning of electrical systems in accordance with approved drawings, project specifications, and applicable IS, IEC, IEEE, and CEA standards.

Key Responsibilities

- Electrical Testing &
- Commissioning

- Perform testing and commissioning of HT/LT electrical systems and installations.

- Test transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, relays, CT/PTs, cables, MCC, PCC, APFC, and distribution panels.

- Conduct IR/Megger, continuity, polarity, earth resistance, contact resistance, Hi-Pot, TTR, and winding resistance tests.

- Perform primary & secondary injection and relay/protection system testing.

- Conduct functional testing of DG synchronization, VFD, UPS, capacitor banks, control and protection systems.

- Perform SCADA interface, interlocking, and functional testing wherever applicable.

- Verify transformer parameters including TTR, winding resistance, vector group, IR, and oil test reports.

- Ensure all testing and commissioning activities are completed as per approved procedures and project requirements.

Inspection &

- Quality Assurance

- Inspect electrical installations before energization and commissioning.

- Verify installations against approved drawings, SLDs, specifications, and quality requirements.

- Identify defects, deviations, and incomplete works and coordinate corrective actions.

- Ensure testing and workmanship comply with project quality plans and applicable standards.

- Conduct pre-energization checks and verify readiness for safe energization.

Safety &

- Compliance

- Ensure safe execution of all electrical testing and commissioning activities.

- Implement LOTO, PTW, JSA, Risk Assessment, PPE, barricading, and electrical isolation procedures.





- Ensure equipment is properly isolated, discharged, and earthed before testing.

- Identify electrical hazards and implement appropriate control measures.

- Participate in toolbox talks, safety inspections, and safety audits.

- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, and incidents and support corrective action closure.

Troubleshooting

- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical faults, tripping issues, relay malfunctions, cable faults, breaker problems, and panel/control circuit issues.

- Troubleshoot transformers, VFDs, UPS systems, motors, and capacitor banks.

- Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and recommend corrective/preventive actions.

- Provide technical support during breakdowns, energization, and commissioning.

Documentation &

- Reporting

- Prepare testing, commissioning, inspection, and energization reports.

- Maintain test certificates, checklists, calibration records, and equipment test records.

- Prepare and close punch lists, observations, and NCRs.

- Maintain commissioning and handover documentation, including as-built records.

- Ensure test reports are properly reviewed, documented, and submitted.

Coordination

- Coordinate with project engineers, design teams, clients, consultants, contractors, and OEMs.

- Support project teams during testing, energization, troubleshooting, and final commissioning.

- Review technical documents, drawings, datasheets, and equipment test certificates.

- Provide technical inputs for equipment compliance and testing requirements.

Educational Qualification &

- Experience

- B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Electrical Engineering.

- 3 to 8 years of relevant experience in electrical testing, commissioning, inspection, and safety.

- Experience in EPC projects, substations, industrial plants, commercial buildings, infrastructure, power distribution, data centers, or renewable energy projects will be preferred.

- Certification/training in Electrical Testing &
- Commissioning, Electrical Safety, or Protection Systems will be an advantage.
