Snowflake Data / ETL Test Engineer

Location: Bengaluru / Kochi (Work from Office)

Work Model: Fully remote from India,

Working Hours: 8 A.M IST – 5 P.M IST (supporting a client in Australia)

Experience: 2-3 years of hands-on Snowflake experience

Role Summary

We are seeking Data / ETL Test Engineers to validate the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of data pipelines built on Snowflake. Working from India in support of a client based in Australia, the tester will verify that data is correctly ingested, transformed, and delivered according to business rules. This is a data-focused QA role - the tester must be strong in SQL and comfortable reconciling large datasets, rather than a generic functional/UI QA profile.

Key Responsibilities

- Design and execute test plans, test cases, and test scripts for ETL/ELT pipelines on Snowflake.
- Perform source-to-target data validation and reconciliation (row counts, checksums, aggregates, column-level comparisons).
- Validate transformation logic and business rules against specifications and mapping documents.
- Write complex SQL queries to independently verify data across source, staging, and target layers.
- Perform data quality testing - completeness, uniqueness, referential integrity, null/duplicate checks, and boundary conditions.
- Conduct regression testing across incremental loads and pipeline changes.
- Automate data validation where possible (dbt tests, SQL-based frameworks, Python, or QA tools).




- Log, track, and manage defects; work with data engineers to resolve issues and re-test.
- Validate handling of semi-structured data and edge cases.
- Support UAT and produce test evidence, sign-off documentation, and reports for the client.

Required Skills

- 2-3 years of experience in ETL / data warehouse testing, with hands-on Snowflake exposure.
- Strong SQL skills - able to write complex queries independently for validation and reconciliation.
- Solid understanding of ETL/ELT concepts, data warehousing, and data modelling.
- Experience with source-to-target mapping (STM) documents and translating them into test cases.
- Familiarity with Snowflake objects and how data flows through layered architectures.
- Understanding of data quality dimensions and reconciliation techniques.
- Experience with defect management tools (JIRA, Azure DevOps, or similar).
- Good written and verbal English communication for working with a remote client.
- Ability to work independently and manage deliverables across time zones with limited overlap.

Good to Have

- SnowPro Core certification.
- Experience automating data tests using dbt tests, Excellent Expectations, Python, or similar frameworks.
- Exposure to CI/CD and integrating data tests into pipelines.
- Experience validating semi-structured data (JSON, Parquet).
- Basic scripting in Python for test automation.
