Test Automation Architect Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Test Automation Architect to lead the design, implementation, and evolution of our automation testing frameworks. The ideal candidate will have robust hands-on experience with Playwright automation, along with preferred experience in WebDriverIO and RestAssured, combined with expertise in test automation design patterns and the ability to explore and integrate AI/ML into testing workflows. This role involves mentoring team members, driving test automation best practices, and continuously improving the efficiency and effectiveness of our test automation strategy.

Key Responsibilities Framework Development

- Design and build scalable, maintainable, and reusable test automation frameworks for web, API, and mobile applications using tools such as Playwright, WebDriverIO, RestAssured, and related ecosystems
- Establish robust architectural patterns and best practices for framework design to ensure long-term sustainability and scalability
- Develop comprehensive documentation and guidelines for framework usage across teams

Automation Strategy Optimization
- Define and evolve the automation strategy across Agile/DevOps teams
- Identify opportunities for automation in CI/CD pipelines and drive initiatives to optimize test execution time and coverage
- Work with teams to strategize automation implementation based on feasibility and business impact
- Analyze test metrics and provide data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement

Proof of Concepts (POCs) Tool Exploration
- Conduct self-directed exploration of emerging tools and technologies in the test automation space
- Develop and present POCs to validate new approaches and improvements
- Provide recommendations on tool selection and implementation within existing frameworks

AI/ML Integration in Testing
- Research and evaluate AI/ML-based test automation tools and methodologies
- Integrate intelligent testing capabilities such as self-healing scripts, test data generation, and intelligent test case prioritization
- Explore modern intelligent testing tools to enhance automation effectiveness and efficiency

Mentorship Upskilling
- Mentor and train QA engineers and SDETs across multiple teams




- Create comprehensive training materials, conduct workshops, and establish knowledge-sharing guidelines
- Foster a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence within the QA community
- Provide code reviews and constructive feedback to support team growth

Best Practices Governance
- Define and enforce automation best practices including test design patterns, code reviews, static analysis, and branching strategies
- Maintain high standards for test reliability, maintainability, and reusability
- Establish governance frameworks and quality gates for test automation deliverables
- Implement and promote coding standards and quality assurance processes

Continuous Improvement
- Evaluate new tools, frameworks, and testing approaches on an ongoing basis
- Recommend and implement future enhancements for test automation platforms and processes
- Drive initiatives to reduce technical debt and improve framework efficiency

Collaboration
- Work closely with QA Leads, Developers, DevOps, and Product teams to integrate automation in the software development lifecycle
- Align automation strategy with project goals and organizational objectives
- Participate in cross-functional discussions and decision-making processes

Testing
- Perform manual and automation testing when required on projects
- Contribute hands-on testing expertise to support project delivery

Required Qualifications Mandatory Requirements
- Location: Hyderabad-based candidates only
- Overall Testing Experience: 15+ years in Software Testing
- Test Automation Experience: 10+ years of hands-on Automation Testing
- Architecture Experience: Minimum 5 years of hands-on, real-time experience in a QA/Test Architecture role
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication abilities (mandatory)

Technical Skills
- Strong hands-on experience with JavaScript/TypeScript
- Expert-level proficiency with Playwright (primary focus)
- Solid experience with WebDriverIO




- Solid experience with RestAssured for API testing
- Expertise in building and scaling test automation frameworks from scratch
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and integration of automation tools (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps)
- Familiarity with BDD/TDD methodologies and tools (e.g., Cucumber, Mocha)
- Experience with API testing , including request/response validation and contract testing
- Exposure to AI/ML in test automation using tools like Claude or interest in exploring modern intelligent testing tools
- Strong knowledge of testing best practices, coding standards, and software quality principles
