To plan and control all activities connected with safe and productive operation of his assigned vessels.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Coordinate day to day operation of the vessels under his supervision and coordinate with other departments for smooth running of his vessels
- Familiarize with the fundamental operating concepts of the deck and engine equipment in order to evaluate any deviation from norms and take measures to ensure efficient operation of same.
- Verify all incoming reports from the vessels, identify areas which require immediate attention and in consultation with the Fleet Manager take corrective actions.
- Prepare ship specific and realistic budget for the vessels under management with close co-operation of the ship management team.
- Keep control of consumption of stores and spares by the vessels and effect timely supply of same in coordination with various suppliers after making a study of the cost with an attempt to contain within the monthly operating cost budget.
- Closely monitor performance of all vessels and ensure that Charter Party requirements are being fulfilled. Identify reasons for deviation if any and take remedial measures.
- Ensure that at all time the Classification and statutory survey status is maintained, all surveys are carried out within the due dates and that all trading certificates are valid.
- Keep abreast with all regulatory requirements and keep the vessels suitably informed.
- During periodical inspection of the vessels instruct/verify that regular safety drills pertaining to various contingencies are been conducted.
- Assist in preparation of all necessary documentations pertaining to Hull and Machinery and P and I insurance claims for vessels under his charge.
- In consultation with the Fleet Manager / Technical Director carry out dry dockings & periodical inspection of vessels and prepare a detailed report and review same with the Fleet Manager and Technical Director, formulate an upgradation plan and follow-up with the vessel.
- To be briefed by Accounts/Fleet Personnel prior inspection of vessel regarding concerned matters onboard and revert feedback.
- Prepare repair specifications and coordinate with various repair firms for effecting major repairs, if any, during the voyage with minimum delay to vessel.
- Instruct and supervise the Technical Assistant of his day to day responsibility and ensure upkeep of up-to-date performance records in office.
- Ensure that all items pertaining the safety and pollution prevention are regularly checked with the aim of achieving high standards of safe and pollution free voyages.
- Promptly act in consultation with the Fleet Manager and Marine, Safety and Quality Department to take corrective measures when any defect / problem is reported by the Master concerning ship's seaworthiness, safety and pollution.
- Report defects/damage/accidents to authorities & class (when required) and take necessary corrective measures.
- Work on the operating cost budgets of vessels keeping in mind the latest statutory, Governmental and Port regulations.
- Monitor the monthly operating costs of the vessels and verify if they are in line with the budget.
- Ensure that all technical reports as required by various Principals are timely dispatched.
- Ensure maintenance schedules for the ships under their charge are in force and up to date.
- Deal with contingencies as defines in Element 11 of SMS.
- Deal with any other issues as directed by Fleet Manage.
Pay: ₹300,000.00 - ₹350,000.00 per month
