Responsibilities The Technical Artist is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing the technical foundation of automotive visualization projects. The role bridges the gap between Art and Development by creating scalable production workflows, improving rendering performance, implementing technical solutions, and enabling artists to work efficiently while maintaining the highest visual quality.

Pipeline Development

- Design, develop, and maintain scalable production pipelines for Unreal Engine visualization projects.
- Create standardized workflows for environments, lighting, materials, cameras, cinematics, and rendering.
- Develop reusable systems, templates, and production frameworks that improve team efficiency.
- Continuously optimize production workflows through automation and process improvements.

Unreal Engine Development

- Configure and maintain Unreal Engine project templates.
- Implement rendering workflows supporting both Lumen and Path Tracing.
- Develop Blueprint-based tools and utility systems for artists.
- Support the integration of new Unreal Engine features into existing production pipelines.
- Evaluate new Unreal Engine releases and assess their impact on production.

Rendering & Performance Optimization

- Optimize rendering quality and runtime performance for real-time applications, configurators, cinematics, and cloud rendering.
- Analyze GPU and CPU performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize Nanite, Lumen, Virtual Shadow Maps, Virtual Textures, shaders, and memory usage.
- Balance visual fidelity and rendering performance across different production scenarios.

Materials & Shader Development

- Develop reusable master materials and modular shader systems.




- Optimize material workflows for scalability and maintainability.
- Support artists with complex shader implementations and troubleshooting.
- Maintain physically accurate rendering standards.

Tools & Automation

- Develop automation tools using Blueprints, Python, Editor Utility Widgets, and scripting.
- Automate repetitive production tasks wherever possible.
- Improve import, export, and asset validation workflows.
- Create tools that simplify artist workflows and reduce production time.

Data Integration

- Integrate external data into Unreal Engine using structured workflows.
- Support Datasmith, USD, glTF, FBX, JSON, and other production formats.
- Develop automated import and synchronization pipelines.
- Ensure reliable asset management across production environments.

AI Workflow Integration

- Evaluate and integrate AI-assisted production workflows.
- Support AI-generated backgrounds and hybrid 2D/3D visualization workflows.
- Improve AI-assisted reflection matching and automated look development processes.
- Research emerging AI technologies for visualization production.

Pipeline & Version Control

- Maintain project structures and production standards.
- Manage Perforce workflows, branching strategies, and asset organization.
- Define naming conventions, folder structures, validation rules, and production guidelines.
- Ensure reliable collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Technical Support

- Support artists with technical challenges.
- Troubleshoot rendering, lighting, shader, and engine-related issues.
- Create technical documentation and production guidelines.




- Conduct knowledge-sharing sessions and onboarding for new team members.

Innovation

- Evaluate emerging technologies related to Unreal Engine, rendering, AI, automation, and cloud visualization.
- Prototype new visualization workflows and production techniques.
- Collaborate closely with Developers, Technical Artists, Art Directors, and Production teams to continuously improve the visualization platform.
