About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and assertive Supplier Quality Manager to join our team in Pune. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring and continuously improving supplier quality, supporting secure supply chains, and ensuring that supplier parts, processes, and deliveries meet ENGEL’s quality expectations and international standards.

The position requires a strong technical background, sound judgement, and the ability to make quality decisions based on test results, inspection findings, supplier performance data, and process capability. You will work closely with suppliers, procurement, engineering, and global stakeholders to identify quality risks, challenge suppliers when required, and drive sustainable corrective and preventive improvement actions.

This role is suited for a highly experienced quality professional who is confident in supplier management, able to work independently, and comfortable collaborating with international teams and Western companies.

Key Responsibilities

Supplier Quality Management

- Ensure and continuously improve supplier quality performance in line with ENGEL standards and business requirements.
- Select, evaluate, qualify, and develop suppliers in close collaboration with Procurement, Engineering, and global quality teams.
- Monitor, analyze, and report supplier performance using relevant KPIs and quality metrics.
- Identify supplier quality risks and initiate appropriate containment, corrective, and preventive actions.
- Drive supplier development activities to ensure long-term improvement in quality, reliability, and process stability.

Supplier Audits & Process Evaluation

- Plan and conduct supplier audits, including system audits, process audits, and product audits.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing processes, quality systems, inspection methods, and process controls.
- Ensure supplier compliance with relevant standards and requirements, including ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Follow up on audit findings and ensure effective closure of corrective actions.

Complaint Handling & Corrective Actions

- Manage supplier-related complaints and non-conformities.




- Lead or support structured problem-solving activities, including 8D reports, root cause analysis, and corrective action implementation.
- Challenge suppliers on technical findings, test results, process gaps, and quality performance issues.
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are implemented effectively and sustainably.
- Escalate critical supplier quality issues when required and support resolution with internal and external stakeholders.

Initial Sample Approval & New Product Introduction

- Support new product introduction activities from a supplier quality perspective.
- Review and approve initial samples and documentation, including PPAP / EMPB where applicable.
- Evaluate inspection reports, test results, measurement data, and supplier documentation to support release decisions.
- Ensure that supplier parts and processes are capable of meeting technical and quality requirements before serial production.

Technical Quality Support

- Review and interpret technical drawings, specifications, inspection reports, and test documentation.
- Make informed quality decisions based on measurement results, test data, and technical evaluations.
- Support activities related to metrology and non-destructive testing, where applicable.
- Work with Engineering and suppliers to resolve technical quality topics related to machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, or similar manufacturing processes.

Supplier Development & Training

- Conduct supplier training sessions and workshops on quality expectations, standards, problem-solving methods, and process improvements.
- Promote best practices in supplier quality management, documentation, inspection, and process control.
- Support suppliers in improving quality systems, manufacturing capability, and delivery performance.

International Collaboration

- Work closely with global Engineering, Procurement, Supplier Quality, and Supply Chain teams.
- Communicate effectively with international stakeholders and suppliers, especially in multicultural and Western business environments.
- Support global quality initiatives, supplier localization, and continuous improvement projects.
- Be willing to travel domestically and internationally as required for supplier visits, audits, and project support.

What We’re Looking For

Professional Qualifications

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Production Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or a comparable technical qualification.
- Several years of professional experience in quality management, preferably in supplier quality, supplier development,



or supplier management.
- Strong experience working with suppliers in an industrial or manufacturing environment.
- Experience working with Western companies, international customers, or global engineering / quality teams is strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of quality methods and tools such as:
- 8D problem solving
- Root cause analysis
- SPC
- APQP
- PPAP / EMPB
- Corrective and preventive actions
- Supplier audits
- Good understanding of relevant quality and environmental standards, especially ISO 9001 and ISO 14001.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, specifications, test reports, and measurement results.
- Experience in supplier audits, process assessments, and supplier performance improvement.
- Experience in metrology and non-destructive testing, NDT, would be an advantage.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, fabrication, assembly, casting, or surface treatment is preferred.
- Strong English communication skills, both written and spoken.
- German language skills would be an advantage, but are not mandatory.
