Position Title Dean – Department of Student Welfare (DSW) Reporting To Pro Vice Chancellor Role Purpose The Dean – Department of Student Welfare (DSW) shall provide strategic leadership and oversight for all student welfare, discipline, engagement, support services, and co-curricular development initiatives of the University. The role is responsible for creating a protected, inclusive, disciplined, and student-centric campus environment that promotes holistic student development, leadership, well-being, participation, and responsible citizenship.
Key Responsibilities 1.
Student
Welfare & Support - Develop and implement comprehensive student welfare policies, programs, and support systems.
- Ensure effective mechanisms for student care, mentoring, counselling referrals, and welfare interventions.
- Monitor student well-being and recommend initiatives to enhance the overall student experience. 2.
Student
Discipline & Campus Conduct - Oversee student discipline and ensure adherence to University rules, regulations, and code of conduct.
- Chair or coordinate disciplinary processes and recommend corrective actions where required.
- Promote a culture of ethical conduct, accountability, and responsible citizenship. 3.
Student
Engagement & Campus Life - Lead the planning and execution of student engagement programs, cultural activities, leadership initiatives, festivals, competitions, and awareness campaigns.
- Encourage active participation of students in co-curricular and extracurricular activities.
- Develop platforms for student leadership and representation. 4.
Grievance
Redressal & Student Relations - Establish and monitor effective grievance redressal mechanisms for students.
- Ensure timely resolution of student concerns through coordination with academic and administrative departments.
- Act as the principal interface between students and University administration on welfare-related matters.
- Inclusivity, Safety & Well-being - Promote an inclusive and respectful campus culture.
- Work closely with committees such as the Internal Complaints Committee (ICC), Anti-Ragging Committee, Grievance Cell, and other statutory bodies.
- Drive initiatives related to mental health awareness, emotional well-being, gender sensitization, and student safety. 6.
Community
Outreach & Social Responsibility - Encourage student participation in social impact initiatives, community engagement programs, and outreach activities.
- Foster values of service, leadership, sustainability, and civic responsibility.
- Policy, Governance & Compliance - Formulate and review policies related to student welfare, discipline, engagement, and support services.
- Ensure compliance with UGC, AICTE, statutory requirements, and University regulations pertaining to student welfare.
- Present reports, analytics, and recommendations to University leadership. 8.
Stakeholder
Management - Collaborate with Deans, Directors, Heads of Departments, faculty members, student bodies, and administrative offices.
- Build strong communication channels between students and University leadership.
- Represent student welfare matters in University committees and forums. Qualification & Experience - Ph.D. from a recognized University.
- Minimum 15–20 years of experience in higher education, student affairs, academic administration, or related leadership roles.
