POSITION : STAFF NURSE

REPORTING TO : FLOOR INCHARGE

QUALIFICATION : DIPLOMA IN GENERAL NURSING & MIDWIFERY / B.SC. NURSING

DRESS CODE : SPECIFIED DRESS CODE WITH I.D. CARD

DUTY HOURS : AS PER SCHEDULED REQUIREMENTS

JD- Emergency Nurse

- Responsible for maintaining care standards in the emergency room
- Initiate triage and help doctors in providing treatment in case of mass casualties
- Work closely with doctors to keep patients and their family members updated on test results or treatment recommendations
- Maintain contact with laboratory personnel to report any initial lab findings back to the ER doctors
- Make arrangements for patients that are deemed to need care requiring them to be admitted to the hospital for one night or longer
- Ensure adequate stock of medicines and consumables in Recovery room
- Ensure all medical equipments are in functional status and report to BME Department in case of any breakdown or due preventive maintenance and calibration
- Take care of Crash cart trolley for adequate stock , timely replenishment and maintain checklist
- Maintain departmental documentations including quality indicators
- Participate actively in training programmes for enhancing professional and technical knowledge
- Participate in quality assurance activities for continuous quality improvement of department and organization

JD- Post- OP Recovery

- Evaluate patient’s condition, vital signs and assess when she/he’s ready to move to the ward
- Symptomatic management - administer pain or anti-nausea medication to control the symptoms as per anaesthetist’s/ surgeon’s order
- Early recognition of clinical problems and report to doctor, or take appropriate action if emergency
- Provide Oxygen therapy and secretion suctions if needed
- Collect specimens such as blood, sputum, stool and urine, order and record laboratory results
- Take care for a patient until he/she has recovered from anesthesia
- Inform anesthetist/surgeon for any compliant and complications
- Ensure adequate stock of medicines and consumables in Recovery room
- Ensure all medical equipments are in functional status and report to BME Department in case of any breakdown or due preventive maintenance and calibration
- Take care of Crash cart trolley for adequate stock , timely replenishment and maintain checklist
- Demonstrate positive communication skills with patients, families,



Consultants and members of the multi-disciplinary team
- Maintain environmental sterility and movements of staffs/visitors in Post- op Recovery room
- Adhere to infection control practices w. r. t. patient care and within recovery room
- Maintain departmental documentations including quality indicators
- Participate actively in training programmes for enhancing skilled and technical knowledge
- Participate in quality assurance activities for continuous quality improvement of department and organization

JD- Ward Nurse

- To ensure delivery of patient care through implementation of prescribed medication and monitoring effects.
- To provide nursing care to patients based on established clinical practice standards.
- To collaborate with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.
- To actively participate in programs for quality improvement in nursing practices.
- To maintain positive interpersonal relations with subordinates & seniors.
- To promote a safe environment for patients, visitors and coworkers including the implementations of infection control policies of the hospital.
- To perform the initial and reassessment of the patient within the defined time frame.
- To check daily inventory of Medicines & Other Equipments.
- To provide Pre & Post operative care to the inpatient as per protocols.
- To provide health education to the patients as required.
- To instruct IV Class staff for cleaning, changing of bed sheets, sponging the patient, other routine necessities of patients and biomedical waste management.

Report

Checking of all patients.(Supervisory).

- To give priority to emergency cases and to co-ordinate with the consultants / respective department for the same.
- To maintain appropriate departmental documentation.
- To treat all communication about patients, staff, and other organizational business confidentially.
- To be involved in quality Assurance / Quality control activities.
- To perform all the jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work.
- Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement.

JD- OPD Nurse





- Initial assessment of patients before consultation.
- Insure adequate inventory in consultation ; chamber
- Minor dressing of OPD Patients.

As doctor’s advice.

- To treat all communication about patients, staff, and other organizational business confidentially.
- To be involved in quality Assurance / Quality control activities.
- To perform all the jobs as may be assigned due to exigencies of work.
- Participation in Continuous Quality Improvement

JD - Operation Theatre

- To receive the patient for surgery and verify their identification.
- Ensure preoperative checks are made on accepting the patient into the OT and prior to the administration of any anaesthetics or surgical procedure along with the OT Incharge.
- Ensure that surgical policies and procedures are adhered to in relation to operations and correct procedures are followed in the checking of swabs, instruments, needles etc.
- Ensure that correct aseptic techniques are used at all times.
- Administer medicines in accordance with guidelines, Policies and Procedures and as prescribed by the surgeon.
- Observe and monitor patients in the recovery room and provide post operative care in surgical ward, including being on call.
- To check the patient files for proper documentation.
- To prepare the patient for surgery.
- To assist the doctors during the surgery.
- To check and update the emergency medicines and other drugs.
- To correctly follow routine maintenance schedules and sterilization procedures for equipment and make sure that the instruments are sterilized and the equipments are maintained. To look after and maintain the proper sterilization practices in the O.T.
- To record post operative observations and respond to and report any abnormal recordings to the person in charge.
- To follow the infection control guidelines in the O.T.
- To collaborate with other disciplines to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery.
- To actively participate in programs for quality improvement in nursing practices.
