Key Responsibilities

Product Design & Development (NPD Support)

● Develop 3D models, assembly drawings, and detailed part drawings for new products (racks, enclosures,

workstations) using SolidWorks

● Own the NPD design workflow from concept sketch to release-for-production drawings

● Conduct design reviews, tolerance stack-up, and DFM/DFA checks before design release

Design Team Management & Workload Planning

● Plan and allocate design workload across the 2-member design team based on project priorities

● Review and approve designs/drawings prepared by team members before release

● Monitor design project timelines and escalate delays proactively

Drawing & Documentation Management

● Maintain an organized and version-controlled drawing repository (2D/3D) for MRE and WPT product lines

● Ensure Bill of Materials (BOM) accuracy and alignment with released drawings

● Maintain Engineering Change Note (ECN) records for design modifications

Design for Manufacturing & Cost Optimization

● Optimize designs for sheet metal fabrication, welding, and assembly efficiency

● Identify component/material cost reduction opportunities through design changes (value engineering)

● Coordinate with Production on design feasibility and manufacturability feedback

Customization & Customer-Specific Design Support

● Develop customised rack/enclosure/workstation designs based on customer-specific requirements

● Prepare technical drawings and specifications to support Sales proposals for custom solutions

Cross-Functional Coordination (Production, Quality, Sales)

● Coordinate with Production for prototype development and first-article inspection

● Support the Quality team in resolving design-related non-conformances





● Support Sales/Product Management with technical inputs for proposals and NPD requests

Design Standards, Compliance & IP

● Ensure designs comply with applicable industry standards (IP ratings, structural/load specifications)

● Maintain confidentiality and protect design IP/drawings as per company policy

Team Capability Building & Process Improvement

● Build design team capability through training on tools (SolidWorks/PLM) and design best practices

● Identify and implement process improvements in the design-to-release workflow

Required Skills & Competencies

● Robust proficiency in SolidWorks (3D modelling, assemblies, drawing generation); familiarity with PDM/PLM tools an advantage

● Sound understanding of sheet metal design, welding, and fabrication processes for racks/enclosures and industrial furniture

● Working knowledge of DFM/DFA principles, tolerance stack-up, and GD&T;

● Prior experience leading or mentoring a small design team

● Ability to manage multiple concurrent design projects across two business divisions

● Strong coordination skills with Production, Quality, Sales, and Product Management

● Attention to detail in drawings, BOMs, and documentation control

Educational Qualifications & Experience

● B.E./B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline

● 4–10 years of relevant experience in mechanical/product design, with at least 2–3 years in a team-lead or supervisory capacity

● Demonstrated experience designing sheet-metal products such as racks, enclosures, panels, or industrial/office furniture

● Experience supporting NPD from concept through production release preferred

Pay: Up to ₹800,000.51 per year
