Solution Architect – On-Premises Data Center Infrastructure
Position Overview
We are looking for a technically robust Solution Architect – Data Center Infrastructure with extensive experience designing and solutioning On-Premises Data Centers / On-Prem Data Center environments .
What This Role Is NOT
This role is not suitable for:
- Pure public-cloud architects
- AWS-only architects
- Azure-only architects
- GCP-only architects
- Candidates without physical/on-premises data-center experience
- Candidates without VMware/virtualization experience
- High-level architects without infrastructure-level technical depth
- Candidates experienced only in one isolated technology
- Candidates whose background is primarily cloud and lacks substantial physical data-center exposure
? MOST IMPORTANT REQUIREMENT On-Premises Data Center / On-Prem Data Center experience is MANDATORY.
For this role, On-Premises / On-Prem Data Center means the physical data-center facility and infrastructure where servers, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and related equipment are deployed and operated on-site.
This is not a primarily public-cloud architecture role .
Candidates whose experience is mainly in AWS, Azure, or GCP , without solid hands-on physical/on-premises data-center infrastructure experience, will not be considered a strong fit .

Role Overview The Solution Architect will be responsible for understanding complex infrastructure requirements and converting them into complete, practical, scalable, secure, and implementable data-center solutions .
The role requires both
Architectural Breadth + Technical Depth + Hands-on Infrastructure Understanding The candidate should be capable of looking at the entire physical and virtual data-center ecosystem and designing an integrated solution across:
Compute → Virtualization → Operating Systems → Storage → Backup → Network → Firewall → Integration → Operations
Key Responsibilities
1. On-Premises Data Center Architecture
- Design and architect physical/on-premises data-center infrastructure.
- Understand physical server, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, and security requirements.
- Perform infrastructure sizing and capacity planning.
- Design high-availability and redundant infrastructure.
- Ensure interoperability between different infrastructure components.
- Develop secure, scalable, supportable, and operationally viable architectures.
- Understand how proposed infrastructure will actually be deployed and operated within a physical data-center environment.
2. Server & Compute Infrastructure
Strong understanding of

3. VMware / Server Virtualization Deep hands-on VMware expertise is mandatory.

RFP & Technical Solutioning A major part of this role involves RFP analysis and technical solutioning .
Responsibilities include
- Study and interpret RFPs and technical specifications.
- Understand customer requirements and compliance criteria.
- Convert requirements into technical architectures.
- Design complete end-to-end infrastructure solutions.
- Identify appropriate technologies and infrastructure components.
- Develop technical solution approaches.
- Identify technical gaps, dependencies, and risks.
- Prepare technical responses and proposals.
- Validate proposed configurations.
- Ensure technical compliance with RFP requirements.
- Participate in technical discussions and clarifications.
- Ensure proposed solutions are practical and technically executable.
OEM / Technology Vendor Coordination The candidate should have experience working directly with OEMs, technology vendors, and infrastructure partners .
Responsibilities may include
- Obtaining technical configurations and specifications from OEMs.
- Evaluating OEM recommendations.
- Validating hardware and software configurations.
- Designing integrated multi-OEM solutions.
- Ensuring compatibility between infrastructure components.
- Supporting technical bids.
- Coordinating technical requirements during implementation.
- Resolving technical dependencies and integration issues.
Professional Services & Implementation The candidate should understand the complete infrastructure lifecycle, including:
- Infrastructure planning

Government / Critical Infrastructure Experience Experience working with government data centers, national-security environments, critical infrastructure, highly regulated environments, or large enterprise data centers will be highly preferred.

Public Cloud Experience Public cloud knowledge can be an advantage but is not the primary requirement .
Experience with

will not substitute for strong On-Premises Data Center experience . A candidate with cloud exposure can be considered if they also have substantial experience with physical/on-premises data-center infrastructure and VMware virtualization .
