Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced SolarWinds L3 Engineer / Senior Monitoring & Observability Engineer with robust expertise in SolarWinds Orion administration, architecture, monitoring, performance optimization, troubleshooting, integration, and automation.

The candidate will act as the L3 technical escalation point for complex monitoring issues, support enterprise-scale environments, optimize the SolarWinds platform, and provide technical guidance to L1/L2 teams.

Key Responsibilities

SolarWinds Platform Administration

- Administer and maintain the SolarWinds Orion Platform and associated modules.
- Perform installation, upgrades, patching, configuration, and lifecycle management.
- Configure High Availability (HA), scalability, and disaster recovery solutions.
- Monitor platform health, capacity, and overall system performance.
- Troubleshoot complex SolarWinds platform issues and infrastructure dependencies.

Monitoring & Observability
- Configure and manage SolarWinds modules including:

- Network Performance Monitor (NPM)
- Server & Application Monitor (SAM)

- NetFlow Traffic Analyzer (NTA)

- Network Configuration Manager (NCM)

- IP Address Manager (IPAM)

- User Device Tracker (UDT)
- Design monitoring strategies, alerting rules, thresholds, and escalation workflows.
- Develop dashboards, reports, and executive-level monitoring views.




- Ensure comprehensive monitoring coverage across enterprise infrastructure.

L3 Incident & Problem Management
- Act as the L3 escalation point for critical and complex monitoring incidents.
- Perform detailed Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and implement preventive actions.
- Support critical production incidents, bridge calls, and technical escalations.
- Ensure timely incident resolution in accordance with defined SLAs and operational standards.
- Identify recurring issues and drive problem management initiatives.

Performance Optimization
- Analyze and optimize SolarWinds database and platform performance.
- Tune polling engines, collectors, alerts, and monitoring configurations.
- Identify capacity and performance bottlenecks.
- Optimize monitoring architecture to reduce system overhead and improve reliability.

Integration & Automation
- Integrate SolarWinds with enterprise platforms such as:

- ServiceNow

- Azure Monitor

- AWS CloudWatch

- Splunk
- Microsoft Teams / Email Alerting
- Develop automation solutions using PowerShell, Python, REST APIs, and SQL.
- Implement automated device discovery, monitoring, alerting, and operational workflows.

Documentation & Technical Leadership
- Create and maintain architecture diagrams, SOPs, operational runbooks, KEDBs, and knowledge repositories.
- Review monitoring standards, processes, and governance policies.
- Mentor L1/L2 engineers and provide technical training.
- Support continuous improvement of monitoring and observability processes.
