Social Media Marketing Manager (Freelance | Part-time)

About Paalam

Paalam is a fast-growing Swiss Tech startup building a premium relationship platform for the global Tamil community. We combine technology, psychology and data to help people build meaningful relationships.

As Paalam grows, we also expect our social media and marketing team to expand. For the right person, this role therefore offers the opportunity to take on increasing responsibility and potentially grow into a Head of Social Media Marketing position over time.

The role initially starts as a freelance position of approximately 20 hours per week. For the right candidate, we're happy to transition to a full-time role immediately or, at the latest, from November.

What you'll do

Social Media & Content

- Own and grow our Instagram, TikTok and other relevant channels
- Create high-quality Reels, Carussels, short-form videos, posts, stories and ad creatives
- Independently take content from idea to finished video
- Develop strong hooks, storytelling concepts and recurring content formats
- Build and manage the content calendar
- Identify trends and turn them into relevant content quickly
- Use AI and modern creative tools to improve content quality and speed

Meta Ads & Digital Growth

- Create and manage Meta Ads campaigns
- Develop and test creatives, audiences and campaign concepts
- Combine organic social media with paid acquisition
- Use campaign insights to continuously improve content and advertising
- Develop new ideas for acquiring relevant users digitally




- Work with our Business Analyst to turn user and marketing data into better campaigns

International Expansion

- Help develop digital go-to-market strategies for new countries
- Research Tamil communities, creators and digital channels in new markets
- Adapt campaigns and messaging to different audiences
- Test new markets through digital campaigns and creative experiments

Who we're looking for

- 3+ years of relevant experience in social media, digital marketing or growth, or exceptional demonstrated talent
- Excellent written and spoken English and Tamil
- The content will be in German first, and later in French and English. It can be translated and supported using AI.
- Excellent short-form video creation and editing skills
- Strong portfolio of social media and video content
- Hands-on experience with Instagram and TikTok
- Practical experience with Meta Ads
- Robust creative, storytelling and copywriting skills
- Comfortable with modern AI and creative tools
- Strong understanding of Tamil culture
- Independent, proactive and comfortable challenging ideas

We are not looking for someone who only develops strategies or coordinates content.

You should enjoy creating outstanding content yourself.
