We are seeking an experienced Lead VSTO Engineer to drive the development, architecture, and deployment of enterprise-grade Office Add-ins across PowerPoint, Excel, and Word. In this role, you will lead a dedicated engineering team in building scalable, cloud-connected content libraries, formatting engines, and data-driven document automation tools. You will bridge desktop engineering (WPF/VSTO) with modern cloud architecture (Azure, Microsoft Graph, SharePoint) within a multi-tenant SaaS delivery model.

Key Responsibilities

- VSTO Add-In Development & Desktop Engineering

Office Automation: Architect and build advanced VSTO-based add-ins for PowerPoint, Excel, and Word, focusing on custom content libraries, corporate branding/formatting engines, and dynamic document generation.

UI/UX Engineering: Design responsive, rich desktop interfaces using WPF and the MVVM pattern embedded directly within Microsoft Office applications.

Performance & Optimization: Implement asynchronous programming patterns, efficient memory management, and performance tuning to seamlessly process large datasets and complex presentations.

- Architecture & Product Design

Modular Architecture: Define scalable, extensible add-in architectures utilizing plugin systems, feature toggles, and shared reusable libraries.

Multi-Tenant Customization: Build energetic, configuration-driven behavior per client to support enterprise SaaS delivery while maintaining strict backward compatibility across Office versions.

- Backend, Cloud & Ecosystem Integration

Cloud Integration: Design RESTful backend services and integrate with Azure infrastructure (App Services, Azure Functions, Blob Storage, Cosmos DB / SQL).

Microsoft Enterprise Ecosystem: Connect add-ins to SharePoint Online, OneDrive, and Microsoft Graph APIs for robust document management, metadata extraction, and enterprise DAM/CRM synchronization. 4.

Security & Compliance





Authentication & Identity: Implement secure OAuth2 / Azure AD (MSAL) token-based authentication workflows.

Data Protection: Enforce tenant-level data isolation, enterprise security compliance, robust logging, and secure local token storage via Windows Credential Manager.

- DevOps, Deployment & Delivery

CI/CD Pipelines: Design build, packaging, and release automation for desktop client packages and backend services.

Enterprise Rollout: Oversee client distribution using ClickOnce, MSI installers, and IT enterprise deployment tools (e.g., Microsoft Intune, SCCM).

Release Management: Manage version control, backward compatibility, phased rollouts, and rapid rollback strategies. 6.

Leadership & Ownership

Team Guidance: Lead, mentor, and direct developers through architectural design, thorough code reviews, and hands-on technical guidance.

Stakeholder Alignment: Collaborate with product managers, UX teams, and enterprise clients to translate business requirements into technical execution plans. Must-Have Qualifications:

Core Tech Stack: Advanced proficiency in C#, .NET Framework / .NET Core, and WPF (MVVM pattern).

VSTO & Office Automation: Proven, deep hands-on expertise with Visual Studio Tools for Office (VSTO) and object models for PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.

Integration & Cloud: Extensive experience with Microsoft Graph API, SharePoint Online, REST APIs, and Azure Cloud Services (Blob Storage, App Services, Functions).

Enterprise Security: Practical experience implementing Azure AD / MSAL authentication, OAuth2 protocols, and tenant isolation strategies.

Distribution & DevOps: Demonstrated experience packaging and deploying desktop software via ClickOnce/MSI and enterprise management suites (Intune/SCCM). Nice-to-Have Qualifications

Experience designing multi-tenant SaaS products with client-specific configurations.

Prior experience managing high-throughput digital asset management (DAM) or enterprise document formatting frameworks.
