Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced Senior Tool Design Manager to lead our tooling design department. This role involves managing the design of high-quality injection molds, complex tooling systems, and precision components. The ideal candidate has deep knowledge of mold design, robust project management ability, and the leadership skills needed to guide a team of tool designers and engineers.

Key Responsibilities

- Lead and manage the tool design team, ensuring high-quality and timely delivery of mold and tooling designs.
- Oversee the design of injection molds, mold bases, hot runner layouts, and precision tooling for complex components.
- Review customer part designs (DFM) and provide recommendations to improve manufacturability and mold performance.
- Collaborate with machining and production teams to ensure smooth transition from design to manufacturing.
- Validate designs with complete documentation: 2D drawings, 3D models, BOM, mold flow reports, and design calculations.
- Conduct feasibility studies and risk assessments for new tooling projects.
- Ensure all designs meet quality, safety, and durability standards while optimizing cost and cycle time.
- Work closely with customers on technical discussions, design approvals, and engineering changes.




- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies, software usage, and best practices.
- Train and mentor junior designers to enhance team skill levels and technical capability.

Qualifications & Skills

- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Tool Engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in injection mold design and precision tooling, including at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
- Strong expertise in mold design software such as SolidWorks, or Cimatron.
- In-depth knowledge of DFM, mold flow, cooling circuit design, gating systems, lifters, sliders, and multi-cavity mold layouts.
- Experience with hot runner systems, mold steel selection, tolerances, and material behavior.
- Strong understanding of machining processes, EDM, and mold manufacturing workflow.
- Excellent project management, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead and develop a team of designers and engineers.
- Experience in high-cavitation molds, automotive or medical molds is a plus.
