Job Summary The Senior Tax Accountant will prepare Federal and State tax filings and the necessary supporting documentation to meet the company’s compliance needs.
The Senior Tax
Accountant will perform income tax provision calculations and necessary research and documentation to support the company’s financial reporting needs.
The Senior Tax
Accountant will work independently on routine work and complete projects on their own after receiving direction and guidance from a direct manager or more senior staff.
Principal Duties And Responsibilities
45% Prepare tax returns, including federal and state corporate tax returns, franchise tax returns, excise and gross receipts tax returns, premium tax returns, sales and use tax returns, and property tax returns. Assist with research and documentation related to current projects and strategies. Assist with research and documentation to support opportunities to reduce the Company’s Federal and State income tax liabilities.
45% Prepare complex federal and state income tax provisions based on application of US GAAP and US statutory accounting for insurance companies. Prepare analysis of effective tax rate and deferred taxes.
Assist with analysis of tax balance sheets and deferred tax balances for US GAAP purposes and admitted and non-admitted balances for statutory accounting purposes.
5% Assist with preparing tax research, supporting preparers with feedback and training.
5% Assist with communication and resolution related to tax audits. Gather supporting documentation and draft memorandums in response to complex issues to assist with the resolution of audits with Federal and State taxing agencies.

Job Specifications
- Required education: Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Preferred education: N/A
- Required experience: 3-6 years of experience in accounting and US taxes, or the equivalent combination of education and/or relevant experience.
- Preferred experience: CA Articleship experience.
- Required professional licensure or certification: N/A
- Preferred professional licensure or certification: N/A
Location Employees in this role must be available to commute to an office or otherwise must be in a specific geographic location to perform the functions of the job.
Travel Requirements
Occasional travel only (such as for planning purposes, team-building, or conferences) may be required.
Physical Requirements
Flexible working in shifts (mostly afternoon).
