About the Opportunity

This opportunity is for experienced Senior Software Engineers interested in contributing to advanced AI research and evaluation projects.

The role involves applying your software engineering expertise to help train next-generation AI systems by creating realistic Reinforcement Learning (RL) environments that evaluate AI models on complex software engineering workflows.

No prior AI experience is required — your software engineering expertise is what matters.

Responsibilities

- Create reproducible Reinforcement Learning environments that test AI models on complex software engineering problems.
- Develop golden reference solutions for tasks involving debugging, feature implementation, codebase refactoring, and performance optimization.
- Contribute expert-level code samples, debugging strategies, and development insights across modern programming environments.
- Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex software defects and performance bottlenecks across diverse codebases.
- Implement robust new features while ensuring scalability, maintainability, and adherence to software engineering best practices .
- Refactor and optimize legacy code to improve clarity, efficiency, reliability, and long-term maintainability.
- Document technical reasoning, solution approaches, and engineering decisions to support high-quality AI training data.
- Review and validate peer-contributed code and technical submissions for accuracy, quality, and clarity .

Required Qualifications

- Significant hands-on expertise in Python, Java, Rust, Go, C++, TypeScript,



or a similar programming language .
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, software engineering principles, and performance optimization .
- Proven ability to debug complex systems, resolve software defects, and optimize application performance .
- Experience working with large codebases, including codebase refactoring and legacy system modernization .
- Track record of delivering high-impact software features from conception through implementation.
- Strong technical documentation and communication skills.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently in a remote, project-based environment .

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience working with large-scale or distributed software systems .
- Familiarity with modern AI, machine learning, or large language model technologies is a plus.
- Experience with CI/CD, DevOps workflows, cloud platforms, containers, or developer tooling .
- Background in rigorous code reviews or software engineering quality assurance.
- Open-source contributions or experience mentoring software engineers is an advantage.

Compensation

- Competitive compensation of $50–$100/hour.
- Independent contractor engagement.
- Output-based compensation may apply, with payment tied to accepted tasks that meet project specifications.
- Minimum submission requirements may apply.

Availability

- Roles are typically filled within 48 hours .
- Selected candidates should be prepared to begin their first tasks within 24–48 hours of completing onboarding .
