Minimum qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages.
- 3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.
- Experience with C++, large-scale distributed systems, technical infrastructure.
Preferred qualifications:
- Master's degree or PhD in Computer Science or related technical field.
- 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
- 1 year of experience in a technical leadership role.
- Experience with web crawling, data extraction, and indexing concepts and basic knowledge of search engine internals and data quality.
- Experience with performance analysis and optimization is a bonus along with understanding how indexing can support AI/ML data needs.
- Experience in using AI for personal productivity and building developer solutions using AI tools.

In this role, you will work on the core indexing platform that's empowering many critical Google products such as Google search, YouTube, Shopping, and numerous associated products that leverage Google indexed data.
You will have an opportunity to learn how indexing infra work at a planet scale and make critical contributions to building an efficient, reliable and easy-to-use infrastructure from the ground up.The Core team builds the technical foundation behind Google’s flagship products. We are owners and advocates for the underlying design elements, developer platforms, product components, and infrastructure at Google.
These are the essential building blocks for excellent, safe, and coherent experiences for our users and drive the pace of innovation for every developer. We look across Google’s products to build central solutions, break down technical barriers and strengthen existing systems. As the Core team, we have a mandate and a unique chance to impact important technical decisions across the company.
Responsibilities
- Understand business requirements and the changing AI landscape, and design and implement infrastructure that enable creation of reliable and efficient data processing pipelines supporting billion records.
- Stay data-driven and opinionated about the various features and capabilities such as experimentation, debuggability, reliability, monitoring, developer experience and cost reporting.
- Set the technical direction and priorities for their sub-team, towards implementing critical processing infrastructure.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers on the team.
- Contribute to the oncall rotation for live production systems.
