Job Purpose To lead and continuously improve the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) by ensuring that all products consistently meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements.
The Quality
Manager is responsible for driving a zero-defect culture, ensuring compliance with group procedures, ISO/IATF standards and customer-specific requirements, enhancing customer satisfaction, and supporting operational excellence through robust quality planning, process control, supplier quality management, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure Compliance with Quality Management Systems
- Establish, implement, maintain, and continually improve the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with IATF 16949, ISO 9001, applicable customer-specific requirements (CSRs), and all relevant statutory and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure that quality policies, procedures, work instructions, and documentation are effectively deployed and adhered to across all functions.
Achieve Customer Quality Excellence
- Lead initiatives to consistently achieve or exceed customer quality objectives, including PPM targets, warranty performance, customer complaints, customer scorecards, and overall customer satisfaction.
- Drive proactive actions to reduce quality issues, improve first-time-right performance, and strengthen customer confidence.
- Act as the primary quality interface for customer audits, quality reviews, and escalation management.
Drive Product and Process Quality Improvement
- Lead the effective implementation of Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
throughout the product lifecycle, ensuring robust product and process development.
- Ensure timely completion and approval of PPAP submissions for new product launches and engineering changes.
- Implement Statistical Process Control (SPC), Measurement System Analysis (MSA), and Process Capability studies to achieve secure and capable manufacturing processes.
Lead Problem Solving and Corrective Actions
- Lead cross-functional teams in investigating internal, supplier, and customer quality concerns using structured problem-solving methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why Analysis, Fishbone Diagram, Pareto Analysis, and other quality tools.
- Ensure effective implementation and verification of corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to eliminate root causes and prevent recurrence.
- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective actions through trend analysis and performancemetrics.
Strengthen Supplier Quality Management
- Develop supplier quality assurance processes to ensure incoming materials consistently meet specified quality requirements.
- Conduct supplier audits, supplier performance reviews, process capability assessments, and supplier development activities.
- Work collaboratively with suppliers to resolve quality concerns, reduce incoming defects, improve delivery performance, and enhance overall supplier capability.
Reduce Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ)
- Identify, monitor, and reduce the Cost of Poor Quality through systematic elimination of scrap, rework, rejections, warranty claims, customer returns, and production losses.
Promote a Culture of Quality and Continuous Improvement
- Foster a proactive quality culture by encouraging ownership, accountability, structured problem-solving,
and continuous improvement at all organizational levels.
- Increase employee awareness through regular quality training, quality campaigns, lessons learned, and best-practice sharing.
- Support manufacturing, engineering, purchasing, and other departments in embedding quality into every stage of the business process.
Lead Internal and External Audits
- Plan, conduct, and coordinate internal process, product, and system audits to verify compliance with quality standards and organizational procedures.
- Manage customer audits, certification audits, and regulatory outcomes.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations through robust corrective actions and verification of implementation.
Develop and Lead the Quality Team
- Build, mentor, and develop a competent, motivated, and high-performing quality organization.
- Conduct regular performance reviews, identify training needs, and provide coaching to enhance technical and leadership capabilities.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Production, Industrial, or Metallurgical Engineering; Master's degree or MBA is an added advantage.
- 1015 years of experience in automotive component manufacturing, with at least 5 years in a quality leadership role.
- Strong knowledge of IATF 16949, ISO 9001, AIAG Core Tools (APQP, PPAP, FMEA, SPC, MSA, Control Plans), and customer-specific requirements.
- Hands-on experience in customer quality, supplier quality, new product development, process quality, and audit management.
- Proficiency in quality improvement methodologies such as 8D, 5 Why, Fishbone, Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and Kaizen.
- Sound understanding of GD&T;, metrology, calibration, statistical analysis, and manufacturing processes.
- Experience in leading internal, customer, supplier, and certification audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, leadership, communication, and team development skills.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications.
- Lead Auditor (IATF 16949/ISO 9001) and Six Sigma Green Belt/Black Belt certifications are preferred
