Job Title: Senior Manager – Shipping Line

Location: The Thar Dry Port – ICD Jaipur (Hirnoda), Rajasthan

Job Purpose To develop, strengthen, and manage strategic relationships with shipping lines, NVOCCs, port terminals, and other logistics stakeholders to maximize EXIM container volumes through ICD Jaipur (Hirnoda). The incumbent shall drive commercial growth by securing recent shipping line partnerships, increasing import/export business, optimizing rail connectivity with gateway ports, and ensuring world-class customer service through seamless coordination between commercial and operations functions.

Key Responsibilities

1. Shipping Line Business Development

- Develop strategic business relationships with major shipping lines, NVOCCs, port operators, freight forwarders, and MLOs.
- Increase container throughput (import, export, and empty) through ICD Jaipur.
- Identify and onboard new shipping line principals for regular ICD services.
- Promote ICD Jaipur as the preferred inland logistics hub for North India.
- Prepare annual shipping line business plans and growth strategies.
- Conduct regular customer visits and commercial presentations.

2. Commercial & Revenue Growth

- Negotiate commercial agreements, handling tariffs and long-term business contracts.
- Drive sustainable revenue growth while maintaining profitability.
- Develop customized commercial packages for strategic customers.
- Monitor business contribution from each shipping line and recommend growth initiatives.
- Prepare annual revenue budgets and achieve business targets.

3. Shipping Line Relationship Management

- Serve as the Key Account Manager for all assigned Shipping Lines.
- Conduct monthly and quarterly business review meetings.
- Ensure prompt resolution of operational and commercial issues.
- Maintain high customer satisfaction and long-term partnerships.
- Handle escalation management for critical customer issues.

4. Port & Rail Coordination

- Coordinate with gateway ports, including:
- Mundra
- Pipavav
- Hazira
- Nhava Sheva (JNPA)
- Coordinate with CONCOR, private train operators, and railway authorities.
- Ensure smooth rail rake planning and container evacuation.
- Monitor rail transit performance and turnaround time.
- Improve train utilization and reduce detention.

5. Operational Coordination





- Coordinate with Operations, Yard Planning, Rail Operations, Documentation, Billing, and Customs departments.
- Ensure timely movement of:
- Export Containers
- Import Containers
- Empty Containers
- Reefer Containers
- Hazardous Cargo
- ODC / Project Cargo
- Monitor container dwell time.
- Ensure achievement of customer SLAs.

6. Business Expansion

- Identify new EXIM clusters across Rajasthan and adjoining states.
- Develop business from:
- Industrial Associations
- Export Promotion Councils
- Manufacturing Companies
- Large Export Houses
- Automobile Sector
- Engineering Sector
- Marble & Stone Industry
- Textile Industry
- Agro Exports
- Coordinate with Sales & Marketing teams for customer acquisition.

7. Market Intelligence

- Study competitor ICDs and CFSs.
- Monitor competitor tariffs and services.
- Identify emerging trade lanes and shipping opportunities.
- Recommend strategic business initiatives.

8. Commercial MIS & Performance Monitoring

- Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly MIS.
- Monitor:
- TEUs handled
- Shipping line-wise business
- Customer-wise business
- Revenue
- Profitability
- Market share
- Container dwell time
- Empty inventory
- Present performance reports to management.

9. Contract & Compliance Management

- Ensure compliance with agreements signed with Shipping Lines.
- Coordinate with Finance for:
- Billing
- Credit Control
- Collection
- Reconciliation
- Ensure adherence to customs regulations, port policies, and company SOPs.

10. Team Leadership

- Lead and mentor the Shipping Line Business team.
- Define KPIs and monitor team performance.
- Develop customer-centric work culture.
- Conduct periodic performance reviews and training.

Qualification

- MBA (Marketing / International Business / Logistics / Supply Chain)
- Graduate in Commerce, Management, Logistics, or Engineering.
- Certification in shipping, port management, or supply chain will be an added advantage.

Experience

- 12–18 years of experience in the shipping line, port, ICD, CFS, or logistics industry.
- Minimum 5 years in a leadership role managing a shipping line business.
- Strong network with shipping lines, port authorities, and logistics stakeholders.
- Experience in rail-linked ICD operations will be preferred.
