Job Purpose The Lead - Electrical drives the design, integration, and validation of turbine electrical systems, ensuring high performance, reliability, and compliance with industry standards. The role focuses on SCADA integration, subsystem validation, thermal management, and power quality optimization, addressing compatibility challenges and ensuring efficient load distribution.

It leads the testing and maintenance of critical components like converters, transformers, and generators to align with performance goals. The role supports field operations, conducts root cause analyses for subsystem failures, and implements corrective actions to improve reliability. Additionally, it collaborates with cross-functional teams to refine designs and ensure manufacturability, contributing to long-term operational efficiency.

Responsibilities

- Key Responsibilities
- 1. Generator Engineering

- Lead design and development of DFIG/PMSG generators.
- Define electrical specifications, insulation systems, cooling methods, and protection schemes.




- Analyze generator efficiency, losses, temperature rise, and performance.
- Support generator type testing and certification activities.
- Conduct root cause analysis of generator failures and implement corrective actions.
- Interface with generator suppliers for technical reviews and qualification.
- 1. Converter Engineering

- Lead development and integration of wind turbine power converters.
- Define converter functional requirements for:

- Grid synchronization

- Reactive power control

- LVRT/HVRT

- Frequency support

- Grid code compliance
- Review converter topology, semiconductor selection, filters, and cooling systems.
- Support converter validation, factory testing, and site commissioning.
- Coordinate with certification agencies for grid compliance testing.
- 1. Pitch System Engineering

- Define pitch system architecture and electrical interfaces.
- Manage pitch motor, drive, battery, and control system specifications.
- Lead reliability improvement initiatives for pitch systems.
- Review pitch safety functions and emergency feathering requirements.
- Analyze field failures and implement design improvements.
- 1. Electrical Cable Harness & Routing

- Define specifications for:

- Power cables

- Control cables

- Fiber optic cables

- Slip ring cables

- Blade harnesses
- Review cable sizing, voltage drop, ampacity, insulation coordination, and EMC requirements.
- Lead cable routing optimization within nacelle, hub, tower, and blades.
- Manage harness design documentation and BOMs.
- Ensure compliance with IEC and UL requirements.
- 1. Sensors & Instrumentation





- Responsible for selection, qualification, and integration of:
- Temperature sensors (PT100, NTC)

- Vibration sensors

- Encoder systems

- Current transformers

- Voltage sensors

- Wind sensors

- Blade monitoring sensors

- Condition monitoring instrumentation

- Key Activities
- Sensor integration and validation.
- Signal integrity and EMC verification.
- Data quality improvement.
- Failure trend analysis and reliability enhancement.
- 1. Reliability & Root Cause Analysis

- Lead RCA activities for electrical failures.

- Utilize

- FMEA

- Fault Tree Analysis

- Weibull Analysis

- Reliability Growth Methods
- Develop corrective and preventive actions.
- Monitor fleet electrical KPIs.
- 1. Grid Compliance & Certification

- Support compliance with:

- IEC 61400 Series

- CEA Regulations

- AEMO Requirements

- IEEE Standards

- UL Requirements

- Participate in

- PCVT

- FRT validation

- Harmonic studies

- Reactive power validation
- 1. Supplier & Project Management

- Lead technical discussions with OEMs and suppliers.
- Evaluate supplier designs and qualification reports.
- Support sourcing during supplier selection.
- Review technical contracts and specifications.
- Ensure timely closure of engineering deliverables.

- M.Tech preferred

- 10–18 years of experience in wind turbine electrical systems.
- Robust experience in at least two of the following:

- Generator

- Converter

- Pitch System

- Electrical Harness Design

- Wind Turbine Controls
