Role Overview

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Jira Administrator to lead and execute a large-scale Atlassian migration from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud — approximately 400 projects and 1,000 users .

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and execute the migration of ~400 Jira projects and ~1,000 users from Jira Data Center to Jira Cloud using the Jira Cloud Migration Assistant (JCMA) and/or complementary tooling.
- Run structured migration cycles: pre-migration assessment, app/marketplace compatibility review, test migrations, data validation, cutover planning, and post-migration hypercare.
- Administer Jira (Cloud and Data Center): projects, workflows, screens, custom fields, issue types, and permission, notification, and workflow schemes.
- Manage users, groups, and access — including Atlassian Access, SSO/SAML, and SCIM provisioning — and reconcile users and permissions across DC and Cloud.
- Assess and rationalize marketplace apps; map Data Center add-ons to Cloud equivalents; migrate ScriptRunner scripts and Jira Automation rules.
- Build and maintain automation rules, dashboards, filters, and reporting for business and engineering teams.
- Administer Confluence and Jira Service Management (Incident, Change, Problem, Request)

where in scope.
- Partner with business, engineering, QA, security, and Atlassian/vendor teams throughout the migration and steady-state operations.
- Document configurations, migration runbooks, and rollback plans; deliver knowledge transfer and training to admins and end users.
- Establish governance, standards, and best practices for the current Cloud instance.

Required Skills
- 6–12 years administering Atlassian tools, with strong hands-on experience across both Jira Cloud and Jira Data Center , plus Confluence.
- Proven experience delivering at least one large-scale Jira Data Center to Cloud migration (JCMA or third-party tools) — ideally at a scale of 300+ projects and/or 500+ users.
- Deep expertise in Jira administration: workflows, schemes, permissions, custom fields, screens, and notification schemes.
- Hands-on experience with ScriptRunner, Jira Automation, and marketplace app management.
- User and access management: Atlassian Access, SSO/SAML, SCIM, and user provisioning.
- Strong communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work independently in a remote, US-overlapping contract role.

Preferred
- Atlassian ACP certifications (Jira Administration and/or Cloud Migration).
- Experience with Jira Service Management processes (Incident, Change, Problem, Request).
- Integrations experience — REST APIs, Bitbucket/GitHub, CI/CD pipelines, Slack/Teams.
- Scripting for migration and validation (Groovy / Python).
- US Healthcare or Health Insurance experience.
- Experience with QA tools such as TestRail, Zephyr, or Xray.
