About the Role

We are looking for a Senior Full Stack Developer who can operate as both a Technical Lead and Scrum Master within a TypeScript-first engineering team.

This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for designing and delivering scalable software solutions while providing technical direction, mentoring developers, facilitating Agile delivery, and ensuring projects are delivered on time and to a high standard.

You will help build and scale a modern platform powered by NestJS, Prisma, PostgreSQL, React, React Native, and WebRTC, while coordinating cross-functional teams and driving engineering best practices across the organisation.

The successful candidate will combine strong technical expertise with leadership capabilities, balancing architecture, coding, team coordination, sprint planning, stakeholder communication, and delivery management.

What Youll Do

Technical Leadership

- Provide technical leadership and architectural guidance across backend, web, and mobile applications
- Mentor and support developers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical coaching
- Establish and maintain engineering standards, development processes, and best practices
- Lead technical planning, solution design, estimation, and delivery execution
- Drive continuous improvement in software quality, performance, security, and maintainability
- Identify and manage technical risks, dependencies, and delivery challenges

Scrum Master Responsibilities

- Facilitate sprint planning, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews, retrospectives, and backlog refinement sessions
- Remove blockers and ensure the development team can deliver effectively
- Coordinate work across engineering, product, design, and business stakeholders
- Monitor sprint progress and delivery metrics
- Promote Agile principles and continuous improvement within the team
- Assist with roadmap planning, prioritisation, and release management

Development Responsibilities

- Design, build, and maintain scalable REST APIs using NestJS and TypeScript
- Develop and maintain real-time call modules using WebRTC, including signalling, session handling, and connection lifecycle management




- Build and contribute to frontend applications using React and mobile applications using React Native
- Collaborate with mobile and frontend teams to integrate backend services seamlessly
- Model and evolve data structures using Prisma ORM and PostgreSQL
- Deliver features end-to-end across backend, web, and mobile platforms
- Optimise API and real-time communication performance, reliability, and security
- Implement and maintain call state handling including ringing, connected, declined, timeout, and related workflows
- Write and maintain tests for critical functionality
- Participate in architecture discussions, incident response, and production support
- Improve developer experience through clean architecture, tooling, and documentation
- Work with Docker and containerised deployments within CI/CD pipelines

Must-Have Skills

- Strong experience with TypeScript and Node.js
- Hands-on experience with NestJS including modules, guards, interceptors, middleware, and dependency injection
- Solid experience with React and/or React Native
- Experience building or integrating real-time systems using WebRTC, WebSockets, or similar technologies
- Solid understanding of call flows, signalling, and connection lifecycle management
- Experience leading engineering teams or acting as a Technical Lead
- Experience facilitating Agile or Scrum delivery processes
- Proven ability to mentor developers and lead technical decision-making
- Familiarity with mobile app integration, APIs, push notifications, and VoIP workflows
- Proficiency with Prisma including schema design, migrations, and query optimisation
- Strong PostgreSQL experience including data modelling and performance tuning
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs
- Strong Git workflow experience including branching strategies, pull requests, and code reviews




- Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills

Nice to Have

- Certified Scrum Master or equivalent Agile certification
- Experience managing distributed development teams
- Experience with push notification systems including APNs, FCM, and VoIP PushKit
- Experience with TURN/STUN infrastructure and NAT traversal
- Background in scaling real-time communication platforms
- Experience with Docker and container-based CI/CD pipelines
- Familiarity with monorepo architectures
- API documentation using OpenAPI Swagger
- Authentication and authorisation including JWT, OAuth, and session-based systems
- Background processing including queues, schedulers, and cron jobs
- Payment integrations such as Stripe
- Cloud platforms including AWS, Azure, or GCP
- Strong system design and architecture experience
- Ability to create technical documentation, workflows, and process diagrams
