? Role Summary

We are looking for a hands-on Senior Embedded Motor Control & Power Electronics Engineer to develop and prototype a high-speed sensorless BLDC motor controller for a 230 VAC skilled angle grinder.

The ideal candidate should be able to work across motor-control firmware, power electronics, inverter debugging, motor testing, and prototype development, and independently take a motor controller from concept/prototype to a working product.

Must-Have Skills

- Strong hands-on experience in BLDC/PMSM motor control
- Experience with sensorless six-step/trapezoidal commutation
- Good understanding of BEMF zero-crossing, motor startup, and open-loop to closed-loop transition
- Strong Embedded C programming skills
- Experience with dsPIC33, STM32, TI C2000, or similar motor-control MCUs
- Hands-on experience with 3-phase MOSFET/IGBT inverters
- Experience with 300–400 VDC / mains-powered motor drives
- Strong knowledge of:
- PWM and dead time
- Current sensing and current limiting
- Stall/locked-rotor protection
- Overcurrent, thermal, and voltage protection
- Gate-driver circuits
- Strong oscilloscope and laboratory debugging skills
- Ability to independently bring a motor controller from prototype to working product

Key Responsibilities




- Study and characterize an existing BLDC motor controller
- Develop sensorless motor-control firmware
- Optimize motor startup, commutation, and speed control
- Implement current, stall, temperature, and voltage protections
- Select and validate MOSFET/IGBT and gate-drive components
- Debug inverter and motor waveforms using oscilloscopes and current probes
- Develop and test a working prototype on the actual angle-grinder motor
- Support PCB revisions, testing, and production validation

Preferred Experience Experience in one or more of the following areas is highly preferred:
- Power tools
- Angle grinders
- High-speed BLDC motors
- Appliances
- Pumps and blowers
- Industrial motor drives

Hands-on dsPIC33 motor-control experience will be a major advantage.

Experience

5+ years preferred, with demonstrated hands-on experience in BLDC/PMSM motor-controller development.

Qualification

B.E./B.Tech/M.E./M.Tech in Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Power Electronics, Embedded Systems, or a related field.

Important

This is a hands-on R&D; role. Candidates should have personally developed, tested, and debugged BLDC/PMSM motor controllers.
