About the Role

We’re seeking an experienced English subtitler to support caption and proofreading operations for major Hollywood studio content, including subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing (SDH). This full-time, remote Senior Editor role oversees editorial quality — ensuring consistency, accuracy, and cultural relevance across subtitles. Day-to-day tasks include reviewing and refining language content, implementing style guides, and mentoring junior editors.

You’ll work closely with the Lead to clarify requirements, manage feedback, and meet deadlines across multiple projects, while contributing to the continuous improvement of editorial workflows, best practices, and training materials.

Key Responsibilities





- Edit and proofread English subtitles for grammatical and audio accuracy
- Produce SDH and CC subtitles in accordance with industry standards
- Annotate cultural references and idiomatic expressions to support translation teams
- Conduct quality checks to verify subtitle-to-audio fidelity
- Localize spelling and language conventions for British and U.S. English releases
- Prepare, format, and convert subtitle files using proprietary software
- Ensure all deliverables meet established timelines

Qualifications

- Solid editorial skills in English (advanced grammar, punctuation, style) with proven experience editing media or localization content
- 3+ years’ experience in subtitling, translation review, or script editing for film, TV, or digital media, with an understanding of timing, readability, and accessibility standards
- Ability to assess cultural nuances and adapt content for diverse audiences with sensitivity
- Proficiency with captioning, subtitling, or localization tools; ability to quickly learn proprietary subtitling software
- Excellent attention to detail, time management, and organizational skills; able to prioritize multiple projects under strict deadlines
- Prior experience in a senior or lead editing role within localization, post-production, or media services is a plus
