About the Company
We are empowering people to go from concepts to construction within hours, enhancing collaboration in the world of atoms & pushing the boundaries of what’s possible, for humanity over the next few decades. For phase 1, we're training foundational AI models that create building code-compliant BIM models, cost analysis & documentation from 2D building blueprints. We are a small team of 32+ and looking for people passionate about 3D generation/reconstruction.
We’re targeting $100B+ opportunity in construction’s design, estimation, and planning software—ripe for disruption by AI-first platforms. If you're interested in joining an early stage AI startup building foundational models, geometric and physics engines from scratch to transform how the world designs and builds infrastructure, with real autonomy and the resources to solve hard problems, apply or reach out to us today.
Our first products are focused on turning 2D building plans into code-compliant BIM models, cost estimates, and construction documentation. To make this possible, we need exceptionally high-quality training data that accurately represents real-world buildings, engineering systems, and construction workflows.
We're looking for a Senior Data Engineer — AI Data & BIM Quality to own the quality and integrity of the structured data used to train and improve our AI models.
This is a highly hands-on role at the intersection of BIM/CAD, construction, data operations, and AI. You will work directly with our annotation team and CV/ML engineers to identify errors, improve labeling standards, and continuously raise the quality of the data powering our models.
What You'll Do
- Own the end-to-end data submission, annotation, validation, and quality-control process for construction datasets, including CAD, BIM, architectural, structural, and MEP data.
- Establish and enforce rigorous data quality standards,
annotation guidelines, and QC processes.
- Review and validate work produced by data annotators, identify systematic errors, and drive corrective actions.
- Perform hands-on AutoCAD annotation, data labeling, and model review when needed.
- Analyze annotation and model outputs to identify patterns, inconsistencies, and gaps that affect AI model performance.
- Work closely with our CV/ML and engineering teams to translate data-quality issues into improvements in training data, workflows, and model performance.
- Help build scalable human-in-the-loop workflows for continuously improving AI-generated construction data.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of data annotators and establish clear performance and quality benchmarks.
- Improve internal tooling, workflows, and processes to increase annotation accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Work across architectural, structural, and MEP datasets and develop a strong understanding of how different building systems interact.
- Own data quality metrics and communicate issues, trends, and improvement opportunities to engineering and leadership.
What We're Looking For
- 7–12 years of relevant professional experience in BIM/CAD data operations, construction technology, engineering design, data quality, or a closely related field.
- Advanced AutoCAD proficiency — this is a core requirement for the role.
- Strong understanding of MEP systems, including mechanical, electrical, and plumbing design concepts.
- Hands-on experience with BIM, CAD, construction drawings,
and building documentation.
- Solid understanding of design standards, construction workflows, and the relationships between architectural, structural, and MEP systems.
- Experience establishing or managing quality-control processes for technical data, drawings, models, or engineering deliverables.
- Previous experience leading, mentoring, or managing a team or operational process.
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to identify subtle technical inconsistencies in drawings and models.
- Ability to work closely with technical teams and communicate complex issues clearly.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience working with AEC, engineering, EPC, or construction technology organizations.
- Experience with Revit, Navisworks, BIM 360/Autodesk Construction Cloud, or other BIM platforms.
- Familiarity with AI/ML training data, annotation pipelines, computer vision, or human-in-the-loop systems.
- Experience with data labeling, dataset curation, model evaluation, or AI quality assurance.
- Exposure to Dynamo, Python, scripting, or BIM automation.
- Experience working in a startup or rapidly changing technical environment.
Why Augrade?
This isn't a traditional data operations or BIM management role.
You'll be helping define how AI understands buildings.
Your expertise in CAD, BIM, MEP, and construction will directly influence the training data, validation systems, and workflows used to build Augrade's AI models.
You'll work closely with AI researchers, software engineers, and construction experts while helping build systems capable of generating real-world building designs at unprecedented speed and scale.
If you're excited by the intersection of construction, BIM, data, and AI and want your work to directly shape the next generation of construction technology, we'd love to hear from you.
