Role Description The Senior Accountant role at Maharath is a full-time, on-site position based in Chennai. The individual in this role will manage day-to-day accounting activities, including general ledger maintenance, journal entries, reconciliations, and oversight of accounts payable and receivable.
Responsibilities include preparing and reviewing financial statements, management reports, and budgets, as well as supporting audits and ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards and regulations.
The Senior
Accountant will monitor cash flows, assist with financial analysis for decision-making, and collaborate with internal stakeholders to improve financial processes and controls.
This role also involves mentoring junior team members and contributing to the continuous enhancement of the finance function across portfolio entities.
Qualifications
- Robust knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and compliance with relevant standards (e.g., IFRS/Indian GAAP).
- Experience with budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis to support management decision-making.
- Proficiency in accounting software and ERP systems, as well as solid skills in Microsoft Excel and other productivity tools.
- Ability to manage month-end and year-end closing processes, audits, and internal controls effectively.
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; professional certification (CA, CPA, CMA) is highly preferred.
- Several years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, ideally in a multi-entity or holding company environment.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in financial data and reports.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work closely with cross-functional and portfolio teams.
- Demonstrated ability to work in office in Chennai, manage competing priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
