About the Role

We're hiring a Backend Engineer at the SDE-1 level to help build and scale the platforms at the core of Astranova's business. You'll work alongside senior engineers on cloud-native, industry-standard technologies Kubernetes, gRPC, InfluxDB, Airflow, Pub/Sub, and modern CI/CD — getting hands-on exposure to real production systems in IoT data processing and fleet-scale backend design, while building strong fundamentals and learning to use AI-assisted development workflows.

What You'll Do

- Design & Development — Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs that solve real-world problems in EV leasing and fleet operations.
- System Contribution — Work with senior engineers to implement well-scoped pieces of larger system designs, learning to reason about trade-offs and architecture along the way.
- IoT & Data — Contribute to pipelines that ingest, process, and serve IoT and telemetry data using time-series databases and data engineering tools.
- AI-Assisted Development — Use AI coding assistants and agentic tools (e.g., Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, Cursor) as part of your daily workflow to build and debug faster.
- Code Quality — Write clean, well-tested, well-documented code and actively participate in code reviews.
- Debugging & Support — Troubleshoot issues across services, from API bugs to data pipeline and performance problems.
- Collaboration — Work closely with product, design, and cross-functional stakeholders throughout the SDLC.
- Learning & Growth — Continuously build depth in distributed systems,



data engineering, and cloud infrastructure with mentorship from senior engineers.

What We're Looking For

- Experience — 1–3 years of experience building backend or data engineering systems.
- Core Skills — Good proficiency in Python (preferred) or Java, with a solid understanding of data structures and system design fundamentals.
- Tech Stack — Working knowledge of microservices architecture, RDBMS (e.g., PostgreSQL), NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB), and messaging brokers (e.g., Kafka, Pub/Sub).
- Infrastructure — Exposure to Docker, Kubernetes, and a cloud platform (GCP or AWS); hands-on production experience is a plus.
- Contemporary AI Skills — Comfort using AI-powered development tools; interest in learning how to integrate LLM APIs into backend services.
- Fundamentals — Solid understanding of data structures, algorithm design, and basic system architecture patterns.
- Education — B.E. / B.Tech or equivalent from a reputed institute.
