Role Summary The SAPBASIS RISE Lead will own the end-to-end SAP technical strategy encompassing landscape design (including N+1 lines), release & transport governance, SP/FPS/SPS and version upgrades, and high-availability operations. This role partners with Program Management, Basis, Integration, Security, and Business stakeholders to enable continuous delivery for a multi-country, wave-based S/4HANA rollout in a RISE with SAP Private Edition workplace (or equivalent).

Key Responsibilities

- Define and maintain SAP landscape topology across BAU (e.g., DEV QA Pre-Prod Prod) and project lines (e.g., DEV INT UAT CUTOVER PROD), including N+1 parallel lines for concurrent releases, emergency fixes, and long-running projects.
- Architect copy/refresh strategy (system clones, client copies, selective table refreshes) to support waves and regression stability.
- Govern transport route design, segregation of duties, and retrofit strategies across N and N+1 lines.

Release Management & Transport Governance
- Establish release calendar, cutover windows, freeze periods, and non-prod hardening cycles aligned to country rollouts and business events.
- Implement transport governance using ChaRM/CTS+/gCTS, enforce approvals, and manage dual-track retrofits (e.g., hotfixes mainline).
- Drive automated transport sequencing & checks, dependency resolution, and rollback strategies.
- Coordinate with job scheduling & workload automation (e.g., Redwood RunMyJobs or equivalent) to align batch changes with releases.

SP/FPS/SPS & Version Upgrades
- Own the end-to-end upgrade lifecycle: Maintenance Planner BOM, SUM/DMO (with/without System Move), nZDM for uptime-sensitive components, SPDD/SPAU resolution, and add-on compatibility (SPAM/SAINT).
- Plan FPS/SPS application, kernel/HANA upgrades, DB patching,



and SNOTE strategy.
- Define downtime minimization, mock upgrades, shadow system use, and rehearsal scripts with pass/fail exit criteria.
- Ensure interface resiliency (SAP PO/CPI/Integration Suite, IDoc queues, OData), BTP services compatibility, and custom code remediation (ATC, Simplification Database).

Operational Excellence

- Define monitoring & observability (Solution Manager/Cloud ALM, HANA Cockpit, CCMS, SAP EarlyWatch), alerting thresholds, and health KPIs.
- Establish security baselines (SNC/SSO, SAML, OAuth, certificates, SAProuter, firewall rules), compliance with segregation of duties.
- Drive capacity planning, performance tuning, and HANA sizing (memory/CPU/IO, table partitioning, column store optimization).
- Manage incident/problem/change processes, post-release hypercare, and root cause analysis.

Governance & Stakeholder Management
- Create and socialize technical standards, architecture decision records (ADRs), and runbooks.
- Work closely with Program ,Solution Architects, Basis leads, SI partners, and SAP.
- Provide risk-based go/no-go recommendations, maintain risk register, and steer CAB (Change Advisory Board).

Required Skills & Experience

- 10-20 years in SAP Basis/Technical Architecture with S/4HANA (on-prem or RISE Private Edition).
- Proven leadership designing multi-line (N+1) landscapes, dual-track delivery, and transport governance (ChaRM/CTS+/gCTS).
- Hands-on with SUM/DMO, SPDD/SPAU, Maintenance Planner, SPAM/SAINT, SWPM, Kernel/HANA upgrades.
- Experience with SAP Solution Manager or SAP Cloud ALM, ATC, Simplification DB, Custom Code Migration.
- Deep knowledge of interfaces & integration (SAP PI/PO/CPI/Integration Suite, IDocs, RFCs, OData, API).
- Excellent documentation, stakeholder communication, and governance skills.
