Navi Mumbai
- About us
Divide By Zero Technologies designs and manufactures industrial 3D printers in Navi Mumbai. We are not an assembler and not an importer โ the frame, the motion system, the extruder, the firmware and the control electronics are all designed here and built here.
Twelve years in. Over 1,300 machines in service across defence, aerospace, automotive, medical and education customers. Our AFPM technology is patented in India and the USA.
Why this internship is different
You will not be given a parallel training project that gets thrown away. You will work on hardware that ships. The sheet metal panels, the machined brackets and mounts, the motion subassemblies, the assembly-line fixtures โ your drawings go out to real vendors for real quotation and real manufacture.
That is also the hard part, and we would rather be upfront about it. When a vendor gets your drawing and it is missing a bend relief or a datum, you find out. That feedback loop is the entire value of this internship. Most engineers do not get it until three years into a job.
There is one more thing you will get here that is genuinely rare. We print machine components in-house, so when you apply DFAM to a part you can print it that afternoon, hold it, and see whether your orientation call was right. Design, printer and part in one building, same-day loop.
What you will do
- Model sheet metal enclosures, panels, brackets and mounts for our machines
- Produce complete 2D manufacturing drawing packs โ views, sections, tolerances, GD&T; where function needs it, material and finish callouts, flat patterns, properly filled title block
- Check every design against what the process can actually do โ bend radius, tool access, achievable tolerance, wall thickness โ before it is released
- Redesign in-house printed machine parts for additive: orientation, supports, wall thickness, part consolidation โ then print and validate them here
- Design assembly, alignment and inspection fixtures for the production floor
- Issue drawing packs to sheet metal and machining vendors and handle their queries
- Maintain drawing numbering, revision control and engineering change notes under our ISO 9001:2015 document control practice โ recorded when the change happens, not reconstructed at month end
- Build and fit up first-off parts on the floor yourself, and fix the model when it does not fit
- Replace custom parts with standard catalogue parts wherever function allows
- Present your work and your open problems in the weekly engineering review
What we need from you
We will assess these at interview
- Pursuing or completed B.E. / B.Tech / Diploma in Mechanical, Production, Manufacturing, Mechatronics, Robotics or Automation
- You can produce a manufacturing drawing, not just a 3D model. Views, sections, dimensions, tolerances, callouts, title block
- You can work in a sheet metal setting โ bends, bend radii, relief cuts, flat patterns โ and you understand that a flat pattern which will not nest costs money
- You can explain why a part is made the way it is, and what the process cannot do. Sheet metal vs. machining vs. casting vs. printing
- You are methodical.
You would rather do the documentation correctly the first time than reconstruct it later
We will teach you these โ bring curiosity, not a certificate
- DFAM in practice: orientation, support strategy, part consolidation, anisotropic layer strength, and how our AFPM technology changes the calculation
- ISO 9001:2015 documented-information discipline โ controlled drawings, ECNs, released vs. WIP states
- Our design standards, part numbering and vendor base
- Motion components โ rails, ball screws, belts, steppers, servos, bearings
What will actually get you shortlisted
Photographs and drawings of things you have made. A Baja or SAE frame. A robotics competition mechanism. A college makerspace build. A printer you assembled and tuned. If you have ever sent a drawing to a vendor and dealt with what came back, lead with that. It matters more here than your CGPA, and we are not saying that to be polite.
What you get out of it
- Six months on hardware that ships, not a training exercise
- Direct mentorship from the engineers who designed these machines, and access to the founder
- A real drawing portfolio โ roughly 20 released packs by the end, which is a genuine portfolio to walk into your next interview with
- Same-day DFAM feedback loop that almost no other internship in India can offer
- Pre-placement offer on successful completion. We are hiring, and this is the clearest route in
- Internship completion certificate and a written performance reference
