- Conduct and manage laboratory experiments, including:
- Ageing tests
- Corrosion tests (Neutral Salt Spray, SO₂)
- Humidity testing
- Mechanical/brush tests
- Optical characterization (UV-Vis, FTIR)
- Design and set up experiments based on problem statements
- Ensure proper operation, calibration, and troubleshooting of lab instruments
- Collaborate with internal teams for advanced characterization (SEM, TEM, XPS)
- 1. Data Analysis & Reporting
- Perform data analysis to derive meaningful insights (not just reporting raw outputs)
- Evaluate data quality and take corrective actions when needed
- Prepare structured technical reports and communicate findings to stakeholders
- Maintain proper documentation aligned with NABL and internal standards
- 1. Project Support & Ownership
- Support project leaders in ongoing R&D; projects
- Independently manage defined tasks or small projects
- Contribute to planning and execution of test strategies
- Ensure adherence to project timelines
- 1. Cross-functional Coordination
- Coordinate with manufacturing, marketing and internal teams for testing requirements and issue resolution
- Support regular/repetitive technical requests from manufacturing and marketing teams
- Participate in site visits (plant/customer) to understand real-world issues and validate solutions
- 1. Root Cause Analysis & Continuous Improvement
- Investigate product defects, field claims, and process issues
- Support structured root cause analysis activities
- Contribute to process improvements and lab efficiency initiatives
- 1. EHS, 5S & Compliance
- Take ownership of lab safety, equipment handling, and waste management
- Conduct risk assessments and ensure safe experimental practices
- Maintain 5S standards in laboratory and digital environments
- Support NABL-related activities and audits
- Follow SOPs while applying engineering judgment when required (with proper EHS diligence)
Qualifications & Experience
- M.Tech in Materials Science / Physics / Chemistry (preferred)
- 0–2 years of experience (freshers with strong lab exposure welcome)
- Hands-on laboratory experience is mandatory
- Knowledge of safety practices is required
- Industrial R&D; exposure is an advantage
Technical Skills Must-Have
- Thin film deposition and material properties
- Optical properties and characterization of materials
- Multilayer thin film analysis
- Solid-state chemistry fundamentals
- Experimental design and execution
- Strong data analysis capability
