Role Description The Radiation Safety Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Dharmapuri, responsible for overseeing all radiation protection activities within the facility. The role includes monitoring radiation levels, managing dosimetry programs, and ensuring secure handling, storage, and disposal of radioactive materials.

The Radiation Safety

Officer will develop, implement, and update radiation safety procedures; conduct regular inspections and audits; and maintain compliance with regulatory and licensing requirements. Daily activities involve training and guiding personnel on radiation safety practices, maintaining detailed records and reports, and coordinating with regulatory bodies and internal stakeholders on safety matters.



The role also includes responding to incidents, investigating potential exposures, and supporting continuous improvement of health physics and occupational safety standards.

Qualifications

- Strong knowledge of radiation safety and health physics, with practical experience in applying radiation protection principles in industrial or medical settings.
- Experience with dosimetry programs, including monitoring, recording, and interpreting dose measurements for personnel and equipment.
- Competence in handling and managing radioactive materials, including safe storage, transport, usage, and disposal in accordance with regulations.
- Familiarity with relevant radiation regulations, standards, and licensing requirements, and ability to develop and implement compliant safety procedures.
- Relevant degree or diploma in physics, health physics, nuclear engineering, radiation safety, or a related scientific discipline.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and reporting skills, with attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Effective communication and training skills, with the ability to educate and guide multidisciplinary teams on safety practices.
- Demonstrated ability to work in office in an industrial environment, collaborate with operations and maintenance teams, and respond calmly to emergencies.
