Job Summary
We are looking for a detail-oriented and experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage the commercial and contractual aspects of construction and interior projects. The candidate will be responsible for quantity take-offs, cost estimation, BOQ preparation, rate analysis, billing, vendor/subcontractor measurements, cost control, and project financial monitoring.
The ideal candidate should have strong knowledge of construction materials, estimation, costing, measurement standards, and Excel, with the ability to coordinate effectively with project teams, contractors, vendors, and clients.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed quantity take-offs and measurements from drawings and site requirements.
- Prepare and review BOQs (Bill of Quantities) for civil, interior, finishing, MEP, and other project works.
- Prepare cost estimates, budgets, and rate analysis for projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, and scope of work to identify quantities and project requirements.
- Verify quantities and measurements at the project site.
- Prepare and verify contractor/subcontractor bills and client RA bills.
- Check work completion against approved BOQs, drawings, and specifications before processing payments.
- Monitor project costs and identify cost overruns, variations, and savings opportunities.
- Prepare and maintain records of variation orders, extra items, and deviation statements.
- Coordinate with Project Managers, Site Engineers, Architects, Designers, Contractors, and Vendors.
- Obtain and compare quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Negotiate rates and commercial terms with vendors/subcontractors where required.
- Maintain accurate records of material quantities, rates, measurements, bills, and payments.
- Assist in material reconciliation and consumption analysis.
- Prepare regular cost reports and project financial statements.
- Ensure all commercial documentation is properly maintained and updated.
- Support tendering and procurement activities by preparing estimates and comparing quotations.
- Identify discrepancies between drawings, BOQs, site conditions, and executed work.
- Assist management in commercial decision-making and project cost optimization.
Required Skills
- Strong knowledge of quantity surveying, estimation, costing, and billing.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Excel and spreadsheet-based calculations.
- Ability to read and understand architectural, civil, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Knowledge of BOQ preparation and quantity take-off.
- Good understanding of construction materials, specifications, and market rates.
- Robust analytical and numerical skills.
- Good negotiation and vendor management skills.
- Attention to detail and accuracy.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
Educational Qualification
- Diploma / Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant certification in Quantity Surveying will be an advantage.
Experience Experience Required: 2–5 years in Quantity Surveying / Estimation / Billing / Cost Control.
Experience in interior fit-out, residential, commercial, hospitality, or construction projects will be preferred.
Software Skills
- MS Excel – Mandatory
- AutoCAD – Preferred
- MS Office
- Knowledge of quantity take-off or estimation software will be an advantage.
