Quantity Surveyor - Water Supply Projects

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to manage quantity surveying, cost control, estimation, measurement, billing, and commercial activities for water supply and infrastructure projects. The role involves working closely with project managers, engineers, contractors, consultants, and clients to ensure accurate project costing and commercial compliance.

Key Responsibilities

- Prepare BOQs, quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and rate analysis for water supply projects.
- Review drawings, specifications, tender documents, and contract conditions.
- Measure quantities for pipelines, excavation, backfilling, chambers, valves, pumping stations, water tanks, and related civil works.
- Prepare and verify contractor interim payment applications, RA bills, and final bills.
- Monitor project quantities and costs against the approved BOQ and budget.
- Prepare variations, extra-item statements, deviation statements, and rate analysis.
- Assist in preparation and evaluation of tenders and subcontractor quotations.
- Maintain quantity reconciliation for materials such as DI/HDPE/MS/PVC pipes, fittings, valves, cement, steel, aggregates, and other construction materials.
- Track material consumption and wastage against approved quantities.
- Verify site measurements jointly with contractors, consultants, and client representatives.
- Prepare monthly progress and cost reports.
- Assist with contractual correspondence, claims,



extensions of time, and commercial negotiations.
- Identify cost overruns and commercial risks and recommend corrective actions.
- Maintain proper records of measurements, bills, variations, approvals, and supporting documents.
- Coordinate with engineering and site teams to resolve quantity and measurement discrepancies.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, contract requirements, and applicable standards.

Required Qualifications

- Diploma/Bachelors degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
- Relevant experience in water supply, pipeline, irrigation, infrastructure, or utility projects.
- Robust knowledge of BOQ preparation, quantity measurement, rate analysis, billing, and cost control.
- Good knowledge of MS Excel and AutoCAD; familiarity with quantity surveying/estimation software is an advantage.
- Understanding of civil and pipeline construction methods.
- Good knowledge of contract administration and variation management.
- Strong analytical, documentation, and communication skills.

Experience with projects involving:

- DI, HDPE, MS, PVC and other water pipelines
- Water treatment and pumping stations
- Reservoirs and overhead/underground water tanks
- Valve chambers and utility structures
- Road cutting, reinstatement, excavation and backfilling
- Water supply networks and distribution systems
