Job Purpose:

To ensure that all construction activities and materials comply with the approved specifications, applicable standards, and quality requirements. The Quality Engineer shall establish and implement quality control procedures, monitor testing activities, maintain quality records, and oversee the functioning of the in-house concrete quality laboratory to ensure delivery of quality construction.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Quality Assurance and Quality Control

- Formulate, implement, and monitor Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Control (QC) procedures for the project.
- Ensure that all construction activities are executed in accordance with approved drawings, specifications, quality plans, and applicable standards.
- Monitor compliance with relevant BIS codes, project specifications, and client quality requirements.

2. Material Inspection and Approval

- Monitor the inward movement of construction materials and verify their acceptability against approved technical specifications.
- Conduct inspection of incoming materials and coordinate sampling and testing as required.
- Ensure that acceptance and rejection of materials are properly documented.
- Report any material non-conformance or rejection to the Construction Manager and initiate corrective actions.

3. Testing and Laboratory Management

- Receive, verify, review, and approve test reports related to construction materials and workmanship.
- Ensure presence during all quality tests conducted by contractors and verify adherence to approved procedures.
- Supervise and operate the in-house concrete quality laboratory.




- Conduct and oversee all mandatory tests related to concrete and other building materials, including but not limited to:

- Slump Test
- Compressive Strength Test (Cube Testing)

- Sieve Analysis

- Aggregate Impact/Crushing Tests

- Water Quality Tests

- Cement Testing

- Field Density Tests
- Any other tests required as per BIS standards and project specifications.

4. Site Quality Monitoring

- Monitor the quality of concrete received from site batching plants and external vendors.
- Inspect formwork, reinforcement, concreting activities, and other construction works to ensure compliance with approved standards.
- Identify quality deviations and recommend preventive and corrective actions.

5. Documentation and Record Management

- Maintain complete records of all quality processes, inspections, test reports, approvals, and non-conformance reports in both hard copy and soft copy formats.
- Ensure all quality documentation is updated and readily available for internal and external audits.
- Prepare and maintain quality registers, checklists, and inspection records.

6. Quality Audits and Compliance

- Coordinate and support quality audits conducted by clients, consultants, or internal teams.
- Ensure timely closure of audit observations and implementation of corrective actions.




- Monitor the effectiveness of corrective and preventive measures.

7. Reporting and Escalation

- Report deviations from approved specifications, quality plans, and BIS codes to the Construction Manager.
- Highlight quality risks and recommend improvement measures to avoid recurrence of defects.
- Submit periodic quality reports and status updates to project management.

Qualification:

- Bachelor's Degree/Diploma in Civil Engineering.

Experience:

- Minimum 5-8 years of relevant experience in Quality Assurance and Quality Control in building construction projects.
- Experience in handling concrete laboratories and material testing shall be preferred.

Required Skills and Competencies:

- Sound knowledge of BIS codes, construction specifications, and quality standards.
- Hands-on experience in concrete and building material testing.
- Ability to interpret drawings, specifications, and test reports.
- Knowledge of QA/QC documentation and audit requirements.
- Proficiency in MS Office and preparation of quality reports.
- Robust analytical, documentation, and communication skills.
- Attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

- Compliance with approved quality standards and specifications.
- Timely completion and documentation of inspections and tests.
- Reduction in quality non-conformities and rework.
- Effective management of laboratory testing activities.
- Timely closure of audit observations and corrective actions.
- Accuracy and completeness of quality records and reports.
