Job Summary The QA/QC Engineer is responsible for implementing the Quality Management System (QMS), ensuring all construction activities comply with project specifications, approved drawings, method statements, Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs), client/PMC requirements, and relevant IS codes.
Key Responsibilities
1. Quality Assurance
● Implement and maintain the Project Quality Plan (PQP). ● Ensure work is executed as per approved drawings, specifications, and method statements.
● Conduct quality awareness sessions and toolbox talks.
● Review and update quality procedures and checklists.
● Coordinate with the client, PMC, consultants, and subcontractors on quality matters.
1. Quality Control
● Carry out inspections for reinforcement, formwork, concrete, masonry, plastering, waterproofing, flooring, finishing, and structural works. ● Prepare and submit Inspection Requests (IRs) to the client/PMC.
● Ensure all activities comply with approved ITPs and checklists.
● Monitor workmanship and maintain quality standards.
● Verify dimensional accuracy, line, level, plumb, and alignment.
1. Material Inspection & Testing
● Inspect incoming materials and verify approvals. ● Ensure testing of cement, steel, aggregates, concrete, blocks, bricks, tiles, waterproofing materials, and other construction materials as per IS codes.
● Witness laboratory tests and maintain testing records.
● Monitor cube casting, slump tests, and concrete quality.
1. Documentation
● Maintain quality records and inspection reports. ● Prepare Daily Quality Reports (DQR), Weekly Reports, and Monthly Quality Reports.
● Maintain NCR, CAR, Observation Reports, and Closure Records.
● Update material approval logs, calibration records, and test registers.
● Maintain inspection checklists and quality registers.
1. Non-Conformance Management
● Raise NCRs for non-conforming work. ● Identify root causes and recommend corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
● Verify closure of NCRs.
● Monitor recurring quality issues and implement preventive measures.
1. Calibration & Equipment
● Ensure all measuring instruments and laboratory equipment are calibrated. ● Maintain calibration certificates and validity records.
● Verify survey instruments before use.
1. Coordination
● Coordinate with Site Engineers, Planning, Billing, Purchase, Safety, and Stores. ● Attend client/PMC inspections and quality meetings.
● Support internal and external quality audits.
Required Qualifications:
● Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Civil Engineering.
● 2–10 years of experience in building construction.
● Knowledge of IS Codes, NBC, and construction quality standards.
● Familiarity with ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
