Vartika Chemicals and Pharmaceuticals is looking for an experienced Purchase Head / Purchase Manager to lead our raw material procurement function. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in pharmaceutical purchasing and a solid understanding of raw material sourcing, vendor management, and regulatory compliance within the pharma/chemical manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

- Plan and manage procurement of raw materials, excipients, packaging materials, and other production inputs

- Identify, evaluate, and develop reliable vendors and suppliers for consistent quality and pricing

- Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and contracts with suppliers to optimize cost without compromising quality

- Monitor material inventory levels and coordinate with production/planning teams to avoid stock-outs or overstocking

- Ensure timely procurement to support uninterrupted production schedules

- Ensure all purchased materials meet regulatory, GMP, and quality standards

- Maintain and review vendor documentation, approvals, and compliance records (COA, MSDS, etc.)

- Track market trends and pricing to make informed purchasing decisions

- Prepare purchase orders, budgets, and procurement reports for management

- Coordinate with QA/QC, stores,



and finance departments for smooth material flow

- Lead and manage the purchase team, if applicable

Requirements

- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Chemistry, Science, or a related field (B.Pharm/M.Pharm preferred)

- Minimum 10 years of experience in purchase/procurement roles within the pharmaceutical or chemical manufacturing industry

- Proven experience in sourcing raw materials, excipients, and API-related inputs

- Strong knowledge of vendor management, negotiation, and contract handling

- Familiarity with GMP, regulatory documentation, and quality compliance requirements

- Positive understanding of inventory management and ERP/purchase software

- Strong negotiation, analytical, and communication skills

- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple vendors/timelines

Preferred Skills

- Existing network of raw material suppliers/vendors in the pharma/chemical sector

- Experience handling import/domestic procurement

- Working knowledge of MS Excel and ERP systems (SAP, Tally, etc.)
