Key Responsibilities

- Develop, validate, and maintain detailed PSCAD models for utility-scale solar, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and hybrid power plants.
- Perform EMT studies to evaluate system performance under faults, switching events, control interactions, harmonic conditions, transient overvoltages, and other dynamic disturbances.
- Support generator interconnection and transmission planning activities through technical analysis associated with system impact studies, facilities studies,



and grid compliance assessments using PSCAD, PSS®E, TARA, PowerWorld, and related tools.
- Analyze inverter-based resource performance, including fault ride-through capability, voltage and frequency response, control stability, and plant-level interactions.
- Coordinate with OEMs, consultants, utilities, and internal stakeholders to obtain, review, parameterize, validate, and troubleshoot vendor-supplied models.
- Compare and reconcile PSCAD results with RMS simulation platforms such as PSS®E to support broader transmission and interconnection studies.
- Identify technical risks, communicate findings clearly, and recommend mitigation strategies that improve project bankability, constructability, reliability, and grid performance.
- Prepare technical reports, study documentation, presentations, and engineering memoranda for internal and external stakeholders.
- Contribute to internal modeling standards, quality assurance processes, study methodologies, and automation initiatives that improve efficiency and consistency.
- Collaborate across development, transmission, engineering, and project delivery teams to support BrightNight's growing project portfolio and operating fleet.

Qualifications





- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline with a focus on power systems.
- Four or more years of experience performing power system studies, including significant hands-on experience using PSCAD for EMT simulations.
- Strong understanding of power systems analysis, inverter-based resources, and transmission-connected renewable generation.
- Experience developing, validating, and troubleshooting PSCAD models for solar, energy storage, hybrid plants, grid-connected converters, or related equipment.
- Demonstrated experience performing EMT studies involving faults, control interactions, transient overvoltages, switching events, harmonics, and grid compliance assessments.
- Familiarity with utility, ISO/RTO, transmission owner, and generator interconnection requirements within the United States.
- Working knowledge of complementary power system analysis tools such as PSS®E, PowerWorld, ETAP, or similar platforms.
- Strong technical writing, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality work across a fast-moving project portfolio.
- Experience with model validation, version control, and vendor model management practices.
