Production Line Leader/Supervisor
Department: Production Mechanical Final Assembly / Sub Assembly
Job Title: Production Line Leader/Supervisor
Department: Production
Reporting To: Production Manager
Location: Hoskote Industrial Area
Experience: 3–5 Years in Mechanical Assembly / Manufacturing
Qualification: Diploma / ITI / BE in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
- Job Purpose To lead and supervise the mechanical final assembly production line, ensuring that production targets, quality standards, safety requirements, and delivery schedules are achieved efficiently and consistently.
- Key Responsibilities
Production & Line Management:-
Plan and organize daily production activities as per the production plan.
Allocate manpower to different assembly stations based on workload and skill requirements.
Ensure production targets are achieved within the planned time.
Monitor line performance, cycle time, productivity, and output.
Ensure smooth flow of materials and components throughout the assembly line.
Identify and resolve production bottlenecks and line stoppages.
Coordinate with Production Planning, Stores, Quality, Maintenance, and Engineering teams.
Mechanical Final Assembly
Supervise mechatronics assembly operations as per approved work instructions, drawings, and specifications.
Ensure correct assembly of mechanical components, sub-assemblies, fasteners, and related parts.
Ensure proper use of hand tools, torque tools, fixtures, gauges, and assembly equipment.
Verify that correct components and materials are used at each workstation.
Ensure torque tightening and other critical assembly parameters are followed as specified.
Support troubleshooting of assembly-related issues and coordinate with Engineering when required.
Quality Control:-
Ensure products are assembled according to quality standards and customer requirements.
Monitor and control defects, rework, rejection, and customer complaints related to assembly.
Ensure first-piece and in-process inspection requirements are followed.
Implement corrective actions for recurring assembly defects.
Maintain proper production and quality records.
Promote a Right First Time (RFT) and zero-defect culture.
Manpower Management
Supervise and guide operators and assembly technicians.
Provide on-the-job training to new and existing employees.
Monitor employee attendance, discipline, productivity, and work performance.
Ensure operators are working according to standard operating procedures.
Identify skill gaps and recommend training requirements.
Maintain proper manpower utilization and line balancing.
Safety & 5S:-
Ensure strict compliance with company safety rules and procedures.
Conduct regular checks for unsafe conditions and unsafe practices.
Ensure proper use of PPE by all team members.
Maintain 5S standards across the production line.
Report accidents, near misses, and safety concerns immediately.
Ensure tools, fixtures, and equipment are safely maintained and used.
Documentation & Reporting:-
Maintain daily production reports and shift-wise production records.
Record downtime, rejection, rework, and productivity data.
Prepare shift handover reports and communicate pending issues to the next shift.
Maintain production-related checklists and records.
Monitor key production KPIs and report deviations to the supervisor/manager.

- Required Skills & Competencies:-
Good knowledge of mechanical assembly processes.
Ability to read and understand mechanical drawings and work instructions.
Knowledge of torque tightening and assembly tools.
Good understanding of production processes and line balancing.
Basic knowledge of quality tools and problem-solving techniques.
Knowledge of 5S, Kaizen, and Lean Manufacturing principles.
Good leadership and team-management skills.
Valuable communication and coordination skills.
Ability to handle production pressure and meet deadlines.
Good problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Basic computer knowledge, including MS Excel and production reporting.
- Preferred Experience:-
Experience in mechanical final assembly or machine/equipment assembly.
Experience in handling production operators and technicians.
Experience with assembly line supervision and manpower allocation.
Experience in handling production breakdowns, quality issues, and line stoppages.
Knowledge of ISO 9001 and manufacturing quality systems is preferred.
- Job Responsibilities – Shift Level The Line Leader is responsible for ensuring that the assigned production line operates safely, efficiently, and according to the required quality standards throughout the shift. The Line Leader must immediately escalate major quality, safety, manpower, material, or equipment-related issues to the concerned department/supervisor
