Position: Procurement Manager

Department: Procurement / Supply Chain

Reporting To: Head of Operations

Job Summary The Procurement Manager is responsible for planning, sourcing, negotiating, and procuring raw materials, components, consumables, machinery, and services required for the manufacturing of electric vehicles. The role ensures timely availability of quality materials at competitive prices while maintaining optimal inventory levels and building strong supplier relationships.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Vendor Management

- Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Source reliable suppliers for EV components, batteries, motors, controllers, electrical parts, mechanical parts, sheet metal, plastic components, tyres, and accessories.
- Evaluate, negotiate, and finalize supplier contracts, pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules.
- Build and maintain long-term relationships with suppliers and vendors.
- Conduct periodic supplier performance evaluations based on quality, delivery, cost, and service.

Purchase Planning

- Prepare purchase plans based on production schedules and sales forecasts.
- Ensure timely procurement of raw materials to avoid production interruptions.
- Monitor inventory levels and coordinate with stores to maintain optimum stock.
- Minimize excess inventory and reduce carrying costs.

Cost Control

- Negotiate competitive pricing and achieve annual procurement cost savings.
- Conduct market analysis to identify alternative suppliers and cost reduction opportunities.




- Compare quotations and prepare comparative statements for management approval.

Inventory Coordination

- Coordinate with Production, Stores, Quality, Finance, and Logistics departments.
- Ensure materials are delivered according to production requirements.
- Monitor slow-moving, obsolete, and non-moving inventory.

Quality & Compliance

- Ensure procured materials meet company quality standards and specifications.
- Work closely with the Quality department for supplier quality improvement.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company policies and statutory requirements.

Documentation & Reporting

- Prepare Purchase Orders (POs) and maintain procurement records.
- Track purchase order status and follow up with suppliers.
- Prepare monthly procurement MIS reports including:
- Purchase Value
- Cost Savings
- Vendor Performance
- Delivery Performance
- Pending Purchase Orders
- Material Availability
- Maintain vendor database and procurement documentation.

Process Improvement

- Identify opportunities to improve procurement processes.
- Develop alternate sourcing strategies for critical materials.
- Support implementation of ERP/CRM procurement modules.

Educational Qualification

- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automobile, Industrial, or Production Engineering.
- MBA in Supply Chain Management / Operations (Preferred).

Experience

- 7–12 years of experience in Procurement, Supply Chain, or Purchase.
- Minimum 3–5 years in a managerial role.
- Experience in EV (E-Rickshaw, Electric Loader) Automobile, Auto Components ,Manufacturing, or Engineering Industry preferred.
