About the Role

We are looking for a warm, energetic and responsible Pre-Primary Educator / Childcare Companion for our 2.5-year-old child.

We are looking for someone who combines the nurturing qualities of a good caregiver with the developmental understanding of a pre-primary teacher.

The objective is not formal academics or excessive structured teaching. The child should learn primarily through play, conversation, books, music, movement, art, exploration and participation in everyday activities.

The person should be comfortable spending substantial one-on-one time with a toddler and helping create a stimulating, happy and developmentally appropriate daily routine.

Preferred Candidate

We would strongly prefer someone who:

- Speaks good conversational English and is comfortable communicating with the child primarily in English.
- Has previous experience working with children aged approximately 2–5 years.
- Has worked as a pre-primary teacher, Montessori teacher, early-years educator, daycare teacher or experienced childcare professional.
- Understands that toddlers learn through play rather than worksheets and rote learning.
- Is affectionate, patient and emotionally responsive without being excessively indulgent.
- Is physically active and comfortable accompanying the child outdoors.
- Can independently plan simple age-appropriate activities.
- Is observant and able to communicate developmental observations to parents.
- Maintains excellent hygiene and child-safety practices.

A qualification in Early Childhood Care and Education (ECCE), Montessori, NTT, Early Childhood Development, Child Psychology or a related field would be preferred, but relevant experience and temperament are equally important. Key Responsibilities1. Childcare & Daily Routine

Take primary responsibility for the child during working hours, including:

- Maintaining a predictable daily routine.
- Supporting meals and snacks.
- Encouraging independent eating.
- Supporting toilet training / diapering as required.
- Handwashing, brushing, changing clothes and general personal hygiene.
- Preparing the child for his daytime nap and supervising sleep.
- Helping the child transition calmly between activities.
- Keeping the child's play and activity areas safe and organised.

The role involves child-related care only and is not intended to be a general household-help position.

1. Language & Communication Development

Provide a language-rich environment throughout the day.

This would include

- Speaking naturally and frequently with the child.
- Reading picture books every day.
- Storytelling.
- Nursery rhymes and songs.
- Naming and describing objects, actions and emotions.
- Encouraging the child to communicate rather than anticipating every need.
- Expanding his sentences naturally rather than constantly correcting him.
- Asking age-appropriate questions while avoiding continuous quizzing.

English fluency is particularly important because we would like the child to receive substantial natural English-language exposure through conversation and play.
1. Play-Based Learning

Plan and facilitate age-appropriate activities without making the child's day overly structured.

There should be no expectation of formal worksheets, handwriting practice or academic drilling at this age unless specifically discussed with the parents.

1. Gross-Motor & Outdoor Activities

Ensure substantial physical activity every day. Depending on the schedule, this can include:
- Outdoor walks
- Playground visits
- Running
- Climbing
- Ball games
- Balance bike
- Simple obstacle courses
- Dance and action songs
- Nature exploration

The caregiver should be physically comfortable accompanying an active toddler and must maintain close supervision outdoors.
1. Music, Singing & Dance

Regularly expose the child to:
- Nursery rhymes
- Singing
- Action songs
- Clapping and rhythm games
- Easy instruments
- Dance and free movement

No formal music training is required. The emphasis should be participation, enjoyment and expression.
1. Social & Emotional Development

Help the child gradually develop:
- Independence
- Emotional vocabulary
- Turn-taking
- Patience
- Confidence
- Ability to make simple choices
- Appropriate boundaries
- Ability to recover from frustration

The caregiver should respond calmly to tantrums and difficult emotions. We do not want shouting, threatening, shaming, hitting or punitive discipline.

1. Practical-Life Skills

Encourage age-appropriate independence through everyday activities such as:
- Putting toys away.
- Carrying his plate or cup.
- Putting clothes in a laundry basket.
- Helping set the table.
- Watering plants.
- Washing fruits or vegetables.
- Putting shoes away.
- Choosing between two clothes or activities.
- Wiping small spills.

The aim is to let him participate rather than doing everything for him.
1. School Coordination

The child will attend pre-nursery for approximately two hours. The caregiver may be required to:
- Help prepare him for school.
- Accompany or receive him depending on arrangements.
- Communicate with parents about his school day.
- Reinforce school experiences naturally through conversation and play.
- Avoid duplicating school with another academic programme at home.

1. Activity Planning

Prepare a simple weekly activity plan covering a balanced mix of:
- Gross motor
- Fine motor
- Language
- Books
- Music
- Dance
- Art
- Sensory play
- Pretend play
- Practical-life activities
- Outdoor exploration

Not every activity needs to happen every day. A typical focused activity should usually last only 10–25 minutes, depending on the child's interest.

The caregiver should be comfortable abandoning or modifying an activity if the child is no longer engaged.

1. Parent Communication

Provide a brief daily update covering:




- Meals and snacks
- Nap
- Toilet / bowel movements where relevant
- Mood
- Activities
- Outdoor time
- Anything unusual
- Any developmental observation worth mentioning

We do not require lengthy written reports every day. We value someone who notices patterns and communicates them thoughtfully.

Expected Approach With the Child

We are specifically looking for someone who:

- Gets down to the child's level and engages with him.
- Talks with him rather than continuously instructing him.
- Allows time for independent play.
- Follows his interests while gently introducing new experiences.
- Encourages effort rather than demanding perfect results.
- Lets him attempt age-appropriate tasks independently.
- Sets calm and consistent boundaries.
- Avoids unnecessary use of mobile phones around the child.
- Does not use screens to routinely entertain or feed him.

Child Safety The candidate must:
- Maintain constant age-appropriate supervision.
- Follow strict food and choking-safety practices.
- Understand basic toddler safety.
- Never leave the child unattended near roads, water, balconies, stairs or other hazards.
- Follow the family's rules regarding medicines, food, outings and visitors.
- Immediately inform parents about injuries, illness or unusual behaviour.

Knowledge of basic paediatric first aid / CPR would be highly desirable. We may request the selected candidate to undertake a recognised paediatric first-aid course if they have not already completed one. What This Role Is NOT

This is not

- A conventional domestic-help job.
- A formal tuition-teacher role.
- An eight-hour classroom.
- A worksheet-driven academic programme.
- A role where the child is expected to be continuously entertained.

The ideal person should understand the balance between caregiving, engagement, independent play and developmentally appropriate stimulation. Working Relationship The caregiver will work closely with the parents and other household caregivers.

Parents will determine the overall developmental philosophy, sleep routine, food plan, screen policy, discipline approach and major decisions.

Within those boundaries, we would like the educator to have enough initiative to creatively plan and conduct everyday activities.

Candidates with excellent childcare experience but without formal teaching qualifications may also be considered.

We would ideally like the shortlisted candidate to spend a trial period interacting with the child so that we can evaluate warmth, judgement, communication style and the child's comfort with them. Pay: ₹20,000.00 - ₹22,000.00 per month
