About KaroStartup

KaroStartup began in 2020 as a college Instagram page. Today it's a startup media platform with a 1M+ community, built on telling real Indian business stories with real numbers.

We publish across Instagram, LinkedIn, X, YouTube and podcasts — and video is now the centre of what we do.

What this role actually is

You're the face.

You'll go out into Bengaluru — markets, offices, factories, cafes, co-working spaces — and talk to founders about how they built what they built. How they started, what it cost them, what nobody sees from the outside.

Some of those conversations will happen on the street. Some in the founder's office. Some in ours, with the founder coming to us.

Your job is to make those conversations good enough that a stranger watches to the end. That means the questions you ask, the way you listen, and the way you carry yourself on camera.

What you'll do

- Host conversations with founders and business owners — street interviews, office visits, and studio-style sit-downs at our office
- Do the homework before every shoot. Know the company, the numbers, the story. The best question is always the one that shows you actually read up on them.
- Pick your guests. We have a large pool of founder leads you can choose from — and if there's someone you want to feature who isn't on the list, bring them to us.
- Shoot in the field — comfortable approaching people, holding a mic, and keeping a conversation alive in a noisy market
- Build a recognisable on-camera presence. Your face becomes associated with KaroStartup, and KaroStartup with you.
- Work with the video and content team on formats, hooks, episode structure and clip selection
- Read the numbers — what held attention, which questions landed,

- Skills we're looking for

Must have

- Strong communication — you can walk up to a stranger, start a conversation, and make them comfortable within a minute
- Comfortable on camera, in public, in front of people watching
- You actually want to be known. This role builds a public personality. If being recognised makes you uncomfortable, this isn't the right fit.
- Curiosity about business — you want to know how a shop, a factory or a startup really makes money
- Research skills. Prepared beats spontaneous, every time.
- Fluent in Hindi/Hinglish and comfortable in English — most of our conversations happen in Hinglish
- Willing to travel across Bengaluru regularly

Positive to have

- Basic video editing skills
- Basic camera, audio and lighting understanding
- An existing audience or a page you run yourself
- Interest in Indian startups and the local business ecosystem

The honest part This is a public role. Your face goes out to a large audience, and that comes with comments — good and bad. You need to be steady enough to keep showing up regardless.

Field shoots are also unglamorous. Traffic, heat, noise, people saying no, batteries dying, a great conversation ruined by wind on the mic. The people who do well here treat that as part of the craft.

And the first few months will not be your best work. On-camera skill is built by reps. We're hiring someone who wants to put in those reps with us over the long term, not someone looking for instant reach.
