Job Title: Plant Head – Cosmetics & Personal Care Manufacturing

Location: Bhiwandi, Maharashtra

Job Purpose To lead end-to-end plant operations for cosmetics/skin care product manufacturing , ensuring GMP compliance, product quality, safety, and cost-efficient production while meeting customer/brand delivery timelines.

Key Responsibilities

Production & Operations

- Oversee manufacturing of skin care/cosmetic formulations (mixing, homogenizing, filling, packing) across multiple product lines (creams, lotions, serums, powders, etc.).
- Ensure adherence to batch manufacturing records (BMR) and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Manage production planning in line with sales forecasts, seasonal demand spikes, and new product launches (NPD/NPI).
- Monitor OEE, batch yield, cycle time, and minimize rejections/rework.

Quality, Regulatory & Compliance

- Ensure compliance with Cosmetic GMP (ISO 22716), and applicable regulatory bodies (CDSCO/BIS in India, or FDA/EU Cosmetics Regulation for export markets).
- Oversee raw material and finished product quality testing (stability, microbiology, pH, viscosity) in coordination with QA/QC labs.
- Manage documentation for regulatory filings, product registrations, and customer/brand audits.
- Drive CAPA for quality deviations, customer complaints, and stability failures.
- Ensure traceability and proper handling of actives, fragrances, and sensitive raw materials.

Safety, Hygiene & EHS

- Maintain high standards of personnel hygiene, cleanroom protocols (where applicable), and contamination control.
- Ensure EHS compliance — chemical handling, fire safety, effluent treatment (ETP), and waste disposal as per pollution control norms.
- Drive a zero-incident safety culture with regular audits and training.

Cost & Budget Management

- Own plant P&L; control cost per unit across formulations, packaging, and utilities.
- Reduce material wastage, optimize batch sizes,



and manage packaging material costs (a key cost driver in cosmetics).
- Drive Lean/Kaizen initiatives for productivity and cost improvement.

People Leadership

- Lead cross-functional teams — Production, QA/QC, Maintenance, Warehouse, R&D; liaison, and HR/IR.
- Build manpower plans for seasonal/demand fluctuations; manage contract labor where applicable.
- Drive training on GMP, hygiene practices, and skill development for shop-floor staff.

Strategic & Cross-functional

- Partner with R&D; for scale-up trials and smooth transition of new formulations from lab to plant.
- Collaborate with Supply Chain on raw material/packaging procurement lead times (many actives/fragrances are imported).
- Liaise with brand/marketing teams for private-label or contract manufacturing (if applicable) on capacity and timelines.
- Drive capex planning for capacity expansion, automation, and recent filling lines.

Qualifications & Experience
- Education: B.E./B.Tech (Chemical/Mechanical) or B.Pharm; MBA in Operations preferred.
- Experience: 15–20+ years in cosmetics/personal care/FMCG/pharma manufacturing, with 5+ years in a plant leadership role.
- Domain knowledge: Cosmetic GMP (ISO 22716), regulatory landscape (CDSCO/BIS/FDA), contract manufacturing operations (if applicable).
- Certifications (preferred): Six Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, ISO 22716 Lead Auditor.
