– PIPING ENGINEER Department: Piping / Construction

Designation: Piping Engineer

Location: Project Site

Reporting To: Piping Manager / Construction Manager / Project Manager

Key Responsibilities

1. Review and understand approved P&IDs;, Piping Isometric Drawings, GA Drawings, Layouts, MTOs and Piping Specifications.
2. Supervise and coordinate piping fabrication and erection activities as per approved drawings and project specifications.
3. Ensure that the latest approved drawings and revisions are available and being followed at the work front.
4. Verify pipe sizes, specifications, material grades, fittings, flanges, valves, supports, elevations, dimensions and orientations before execution.
5. Plan daily and weekly piping activities in coordination with the Piping Manager, Planning and Construction teams.
6. Monitor piping fabrication activities including cutting, beveling, fit-up, alignment, welding, spool fabrication and dimensional checking.
7. Supervise piping erection activities including spool installation, alignment, flange jointing, valve installation and piping support installation.
8. Coordinate with the Engineering team for technical queries, drawing discrepancies, site modifications and design clarifications.
9. Coordinate with QA/QC for fit-up inspection, welding inspection, NDT, PWHT, hydro testing, flushing, reinstatement and final inspection.
10. Ensure welding activities are performed in accordance with approved WPS/PQR, applicable codes, standards and project specifications.
11. Ensure proper identification and traceability of pipes, fittings, flanges, valves, weld joints and fabricated spools.
12. Monitor piping progress against the approved project schedule and achieve assigned daily/weekly targets.
13. Prepare and maintain daily progress reports, work-front status, spool status and other required project documentation.
14. Coordinate with the Material/Stores team for timely availability of pipes, fittings, valves, flanges, supports,



welding consumables and other materials.
15. Ensure proper material handling, storage, identification and minimum wastage at the work site.
16. Supervise and coordinate Piping Supervisors, Fitters, Welders, Helpers and subcontractor manpower.
17. Ensure optimum utilization of manpower, tools, equipment and other resources.
18. Identify work-front constraints, material shortages, drawing issues and manpower requirements and report them to the concerned management.
19. Coordinate with the Planning team for measurement, progress updating and preparation of required progress reports.
20. Coordinate with the HSE team and ensure compliance with all applicable safety procedures and project requirements.
21. Ensure compliance with Permit to Work, Hot Work, Work at Height, Lifting, Gas Cutting, Welding, Grinding and other applicable safety requirements.
22. Participate in toolbox meetings and communicate work requirements and safety precautions to the execution team.
23. Ensure proper housekeeping and safe working conditions at the piping work fronts.
24. Monitor quality of workmanship and take corrective action to minimize rework, rejection and delays.
25. Assist in closing QA/QC observations, punch points and NCRs related to piping activities.
26. Coordinate with the Testing &

• Commissioning team for hydro testing, pneumatic testing, flushing, air blowing and reinstatement, wherever applicable.

27. Ensure piping systems are completed and handed over as per project requirements and approved documentation.
28. Maintain proper records of drawings, inspection reports, test packs, punch points,



material records and other piping documentation.
29. Attend coordination meetings with Engineering, QA/QC, HSE, Planning, Procurement, Stores and other project departments as required.
30. Identify technical and execution problems at site and provide practical solutions in coordination with the concerned departments.
31. Ensure all piping activities are executed within the approved time, quality, safety and project specifications.

Qualification
- Diploma / B.E. / B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Relevant experience in piping construction / fabrication / erection.
- Experience in Oil &

• Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Power Plant, Chemical Plant or Heavy Engineering projects will be preferred.

Experience
- 3–8 years of relevant experience in piping projects.
- Candidates with strong hands-on experience in piping fabrication, erection and testing will be preferred.
