Job Summary
We are looking for a responsible and patient-focused Physician Assistant to support consultants and clinical teams in providing high-quality medical care to women and children. The Physician Assistant will assist with patient assessment, clinical documentation, coordination of investigations, follow-up care, and day-to-day clinical activities under the supervision of the treating consultant.
Key Responsibilities1. Patient Care & Clinical Support
- Assist consultants in OPD, inpatient, emergency, and clinical procedures as required.
- Take and document patient history, presenting complaints, and relevant clinical information.
- Record and monitor vital signs and other relevant clinical parameters.
- Assist in preliminary patient assessment under the supervision of the consultant.
- Support consultants during examinations and minor procedures.
- Monitor patients and promptly report any deterioration or abnormal findings to the treating doctor.
- Assist in patient counselling and explain basic care instructions as directed by the consultant.
2. Women & Child Healthcare Support
- Assist pediatricians in the assessment and monitoring of pediatric patients.
- Assist gynecologists and obstetricians in routine clinical activities as assigned.
- Support antenatal and postnatal patient care under medical supervision.
- Assist in monitoring newborns and pediatric patients when required.
- Maintain special attention to age-appropriate communication and child-friendly patient handling.
3. Clinical Documentation
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
- Assist doctors with preparation and updating of clinical notes, progress notes, and treatment records.
- Ensure investigation reports are available for consultant review.
- Maintain proper documentation of patient follow-ups and clinical instructions.
- Follow hospital protocols for electronic and physical medical records.
4. Investigations & Treatment Coordination
- Coordinate laboratory, radiology, and other diagnostic investigations as instructed by the consultant.
- Follow up on pending investigation reports.
- Ensure reports are communicated to the concerned consultant promptly.
- Assist in coordinating referrals and consultations with other specialties.
5. Inpatient & Ward Responsibilities
- Conduct regular patient rounds with the consultant/team as assigned.
- Monitor patient progress and communicate significant changes to the treating doctor.
- Assist with implementation of treatment plans under the consultant's direction.
- Coordinate with nursing, pharmacy, laboratory, and other departments for continuity of patient care.
- Assist with discharge preparation and patient/family instructions as directed by the doctor.
6. Emergency Support
- Assist the clinical team during medical emergencies.
- Support emergency assessment and stabilization under the direction of the treating physician.
- Assist during CPR, BLS, and other emergency procedures within the scope of training and hospital protocols.
- Immediately escalate emergency clinical findings to the responsible consultant.
7. Patient & Family Communication
- Maintain professional and compassionate communication with patients and attendants.
- Provide information regarding investigations, appointments, and follow-up as instructed by the consultant.
- Address routine patient queries and escalate medical queries to the appropriate doctor.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient information at all times.
8. Coordination & Teamwork
- Coordinate effectively with doctors, nurses, laboratory, radiology, pharmacy, front office, and other departments.
- Participate in clinical meetings, training programs, and hospital quality initiatives.
- Follow hospital policies, infection-control practices, patient-safety standards, and clinical protocols.
- Support smooth functioning of the department and maintain professional conduct.
Qualification
- Bachelor's Degree in Physician Assistant / Physician Associate or equivalent recognized qualification.
- Additional clinical certification or healthcare experience will be an advantage.
- Current BLS/CPR certification is preferred.
Experience
- 1–3 years of experience in a hospital, clinic, pediatric, women's healthcare, or multispecialty setup preferred.
- Freshers with relevant clinical training may also be considered based on competency.

Working Conditions
- Full-time hospital-based position.
- Willingness to work in shifts, weekends, and holidays as per hospital requirements.
- Required to support OPD, inpatient, emergency, and other clinical areas based on operational needs.
