TRAX Diagnostics & Research Laboratory is a specialized diagnostic laboratory focused on transplant immunology and advanced transplant-related diagnostic testing, including HLA Typing, PRA Screening, Flow & CDC Crossmatch, DSA Monitoring, and NGS-based assays.
Job Summary
We are looking for a Phlebotomist to join our Bangalore team. The candidate will be responsible for accurate and safe blood sample collection from patients and donors, proper sample identification and handling, coordination with hospitals and healthcare professionals, and timely transportation of samples to the laboratory.
The role requires a high level of attention to detail because samples collected for transplant-related investigations must be correctly identified, documented, handled, and transported according to TRAX SOPs.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform venipuncture and blood sample collection from patients and donors.
- Collect samples required for HLA, PRA, Crossmatch, DSA and other transplant-related investigations as per laboratory requirements.
- Verify patient/donor details and test requisitions before sample collection.
- Ensure correct sample tube selection, labeling, barcoding and documentation.
- Strictly follow TRAX SOPs for sample collection, handling, storage and transportation.
- Ensure sample integrity and prevent pre-analytical errors or sample mix-ups.
- Coordinate with hospitals, transplant teams, doctors,
nurses and patients for sample collection.
- Coordinate timely pickup and transportation of samples from hospitals/collection locations to the TRAX laboratory.
- Maintain proper sample collection records and update collection details in the required system/register.
- Handle samples with appropriate precautions and maintain required temperature/transport conditions wherever applicable.
- Follow infection-control procedures and proper biomedical-waste disposal practices.
- Explain basic sample-collection procedures to patients and ensure patient comfort.
- Handle difficult collections professionally and report any complications or sample-related issues to the concerned team.
- Coordinate with the laboratory team regarding sample receipt, rejection, repeat collection or additional requirements.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and donor information.
- Support hospital visits and field/home sample collections whenever required.
- Maintain punctuality and ensure samples are collected and dispatched within the required timelines.
- Follow all TRAX quality, safety and compliance procedures.
Required Skills
- Strong practical knowledge of blood collection and phlebotomy techniques.
- Experience with Vacutainer and different blood collection tubes.
- Good understanding of sample identification, labeling and transportation.
- Excellent attention to detail,
particularly for patient/donor identification.
- Good communication and patient-handling skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively with hospitals and healthcare professionals.
- Basic computer/mobile application knowledge for updating collection details.
- Willingness to travel within Bangalore for hospital and field sample collections.
- Two-wheeler and valid driving licence will be an advantage.
Qualification & Experience
- DMLT / BMLT / B.Sc MLT / Certified Phlebotomy course or equivalent.
- 1–3 years of experience in hospitals, diagnostic laboratories, transplant centres or sample collection services preferred.
- Candidates with experience in HLA/transplant sample collection will be given preference.
- Freshers with good practical phlebotomy skills may also be considered.

- Patient and donor sample collection
- HLA or transplant-related samples
- Home/hospital sample collection
- Sample transportation and cold-chain requirements
will be preferred.
